November is the perfect time to dive into holiday crafting. Today, I’m thrilled to share a simple yet stunning way to elevate your card designs. Using supplies you may already have in your craft room, I’ll show you how to level up your die-cut layers and create a card that truly stands out.
For this Christmas card project, I combined some of my favorites from Trinity Stamps. The Elegant Christmas Sentiments are a wonderful collection of fonts and phrases that are perfect for the holidays. I paired this with an Emergency Card Essentials collection. I share these new dies from Trinity Stamps on a previous project.

I began by choosing soft, patterned papers to create a delicate, festive look. From the Snow Days Pattern Paper I cut patterns for the ornament, background, and poinsettia. In my video, I shared tips for cutting these pieces and getting the maximum amount of use from your pattern paper.
Using the Emergency Card Essentials Dies, I created a simple yet versatile base. These dies are perfect for making cards ahead of time. They are designed to create simple cards to which you can add a sentiment later to fit the occasion.
For additional accents, I cut floral pieces from the Garden Flowers Die Set to craft a poinsettia. Before assembling the flower, I added a layer of crystal powder over the petals for subtle sparkle.
Now comes the fun part -turning a basic design into a showstopper! I added machine stitching and lines of thread for texture. To create a layered pattern ornament, I cut multiple die-cut ornament pieces and adhered them together.
These soft colors called for more silver embellishments. I heat embossed the sentiment and placed pearls in the center of the poinsettia for extra dimension.
With silver embossing powder, I gave the topper a metallic finish and added a simple silver bow. If you want to take your designs even further, experiment with mixed media, use metallic cardstock, or add small embellishments like enamel dots or gems.
