Stencils are such a versatile item to have in your craft collection. Today, I am going to share some simple techniques you can try on your slimline card projects. In the video below, I will walk you through the process of creating two fall card designs and share a few tips along the way.

This project was a collaboration with scrapbook.com to show some of the fun products in their Bloom Bundle which includes a floral stencil. If you are new to stenciling, I recommend that you start simple.

This background for this card was created using one color of ink. I like to use hybrid inks because they give a lovely full coverage of ink over the stenciled areas. Hybrid inks are a dye-pigment combination which makes them easier to blend.
Once you are comfortable using a stencil with one color of ink, you can try blending a few colors on your project. When blending inks, I like to use brushes and blender tools.

Brushes create a softer look and require multiple layers of ink to get a bold color while the blenders tend to give a more saturated look. For these cards, I used blenders because I wanted a rich-colored background.
In my video, I share some stenciling tips and walk you through the cardmaking process for each of these fall designs.

These stenciled cards were simple to create. I chose fall colors for my designs, but you could easily create them in another color palette and give them a holiday feel or bright spring vibe.
I hope that today’s project inspired you to try something new with your stencils. If you have any questions about the project or supplies I used, feel free to leave me a comment.
