I have had so much fun collaborating with Scrapbook.com for their Christmas in July celebration. All month long you have been able to enjoy some amazing project ideas, discounts on holiday products, and freebies. Today, I am catching up on some seasonal memories using a cut file and sharing how I used the contour tool in Cricut Design Space to create the title for this page.
For this layout, I selected two cut files from Scrapbook.com and altered the December image so that I could create a layered title. In my video, I explain how I used the Contour tool in Design Space to remove the unwanted cut lines, leaving me with the word December.
I cut out four sets of letters so that I could stack them atop each other to create a thicker piece. To save some time, I added an adhesive sheet to the cardstock before I cut it. If you use adhesive sheets, make sure to mirror the image before cutting and place the adhesive sheet side up on your mat.
On this page, I also used some dies to create the tag, tab, and pinecone images. These were each cut from the Christmas pattern papers and layered onto the page.
As I was designing the page, I realized that the only red element I had on the page was the scallop cut file border. I added some strips of red plaid behind the photo to balance it out and quickly discovered that the upper left corner looked a little bare.
To remedy that, I folded the corner of the page down towards the photo and attach some pattern paper to the corners.
I added a few more pine boughs to the corner and a heat embossed sentiment which created a nice visual triangle with the rest of the design. To complete the piece, I topped it with a sweet little checked brad.

This page has some wonderful traditional Christmas colors and patterns that I love using. I wanted the background to be subtle, so I created my own design with distress oxide sprays and a stencil. This pairs well with the patterns I selected from the Christmas paper pad and creates a great holiday feel.
