When I create a scrapbook page, I like to mix and match collections that focus on the theme of the page. Today, I am sharing another photo from our vacation that tells the story of my husband’s desire to try Dole Whip. In my video, I share how I combined a variety of items to tell the story.

This page will be added to our Disney vacation album and, like most paper crafters, I purchased an excessive amount of themed park items, so I had to decide which to use on this page. For those of you who are overzealous shoppers, like me, I am going to share a little bit of my process for selecting items for a page.

I like to start with the photo and title which help set the theme for the layout. In this photo, my husband was excited about trying Dole Whip for the first time, so I knew that I wanted one of the colors to be a bright yellow.
Dole Whip was on his list of “must haves”, so I selected a title from Bramble Fox and combined it with stamped images and stickers to show how treats were an important part of the journey. The addition of blue is also a great complement to the bright yellow.

Since the theme of this page was the Dole Whip, I used items in my collection to reflect the story. I cut some pineapple shapes with my Cricut, added some puffy stickers that said “yum” and “love”, and cut out a phrase from pattern paper that shared how my husband felt.
Once the items to tell the narrative had been selected, I dug through my collection to find embellishments that would add to the page. I chose some bright pink hibiscus flowers, a few hearts, and an adorable Mickey head sticker.

The pink flowers brought another color to the page and allowed me to create a visual flow up the center of the layout. I also added a bit of pink shading and splatters on the page and a strip of pattern paper in the same hue.
In my video, I share how this page came together and tell the story of my husband’s Dole Whip adventure.
This layout was a fun one to create and I enjoyed telling the story of how much my husband enjoyed trying this treat for the first time.
