In today’s tutorial, I’m showing you how to create a vibrant spring-themed card using Distress Oxide sprays, dimensional die cuts, and a few clever tricks with products from This Calls for Confetti. This cheerful “hello” card is full of inspiration and easy techniques.
I am one who struggles a bit with mixed media, and I prefer to keep it simple. This card project is perfect for beginner card makers who want to dip their toes into mixed media. I have pulled out a few Distress Oxide sprays for this project and I’m going to share some simple ways to use them.

If you’ve been wondering how to use your fall dies in a fresh, springy way, you’re going to love this tip for stretching your seasonal supplies . To create the bright green leaves, I used Autumn Leaf Dies—yes, autumn! These dies are perfect year-round, especially when you change up your colors.
The sentiment focal point features layered oval arranged to mimic a hanging banner. I stacked three oval frames together to create a shadowbox look, then topped it with a bold navy “hello” sentiment die. This simple layering adds eye-catching dimension without bulk.
The vibrant leaf embellishments were cut from Distress Oxide sprayed cardstock. If you’ve never used Distress Oxide Sprays before, here are a few beginner friendly tips.
TIP #1: Start with a mixed media or watercolor cardstock.
TIP #2: Work in light layers.
TIP #3: Add water splatters for texture.
TIP #4: Let your paper air dry completely before die cutting.
Once the paper dried, I die cut a bunch of leaves from the Distress Oxide Spray background. To fit them around the oval, I cut them apart and glued them in place.
To give this a spring feel, tiny confetti flowers were glued on top, adding a fun pop of pink and texture. This is a great way to use up those shaker bits you have leftover from other projects.
