The December Hip Kit Collection is filled with soft patterns, prints, icons, and images that are perfect for your winter memories. While there are many colors to choose from, I opted for a more monochromatic look. Achieving this meant making a few changes to the kit.

When selecting colors for a monochromatic look, it is important to choose items from the kit that are in the same color family. This means that you should select colors that have the same hue, but vary in saturation and brightness.
I chose items in the blue color family to give this page a wintery feel. From the kit, I then selected a variety of elements to create a softer look.
Coordinating a monochromatic look involves selecting colors that are either lighter or darker than your base color. It is also important to take textures and patterns into consideration as they can add depth to a page that is made up of like colors.
To add texture to this layout, I created a wreath of heat embossed snowflakes over the top of blended inks. For more texture, I added layers of randomly stitched circles.
Monochromatic color schemes offer a cohesive and sophisticated look. However, working with a single color can also present some challenges.
As with most scrapbook kits, the December Hip Kit is filled with multiple colors. This can create a bit of a dilemma when you want all the items to stay within a selected color family. It’s important to learn tricks to hide unwanted hues.
One of the easiest ways to do this is though creative layering. On this page, many of the springs had bright pink florals. To hide these, I layered blue pearls over the top. This created a seamless design in my chosen color scheme.
