Simple Shaker Cards for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, so I thought it would be a great time to share some quick and easy cards you can create. These designs are simple projects that you can make with your kids or grandkids for the upcoming holiday.

These two vivid designs were created using the April paper pad collection from Not2Shabby. I chose butterflies and florals for my cards, but there are plenty in the pack to choose from when you create your designs.

If you are new to making shaker cards, I have a few tips to get you started. My first suggestion is to start simple with an acetate shaker cover. These don’t require frames or foam tape, just a backing to adhere them to.

Shaker cards can be filled with sequins, gems, confetti, or glitter. I like to adhere a few bits to the background panel before filling my card. These little bits stay in place when the rest of the elements fall to the bottom.

If you are having issues with your shaker bits sticking to the acetate, try an anti-static brush. I always brush powder onto the acetate before I add my shaker elements. This keeps the items moving freely and stops them from sticking to the plastic.

In my video, I share a few more tips to help you create these two shaker cards. I hope this project inspires you.

I designed these to be very simple to create so that you could make them with your kids or grandkids or make multiples for all the mothers in your life.  I hope they inspired you to try something new.
