If you are a member of my private facebook group, you get to enjoy a few live tutorials each month. This past week, I shared one of my favorite finds – Wood Shapes and Sentiments. Since many of you are not members of the group, I have decided to scale down the hour-long video to a quick five-minute recap and show you EIGHT ways you can add color to your wood shapes.

The two cards you see here are projects I created with my facebook group. I not only shared the cardmaking process, but I also showed how to add color to our wood shapes and sentiments.
In the Core Catalog and on my website, you will find a wide variety of wood shapes available. Don’t be deceived by the size in the catalog – they are much larger and much more detailed in person.

On my instagram and facebook page, I posted a little video of some of the projects I have made using our wood shapes and sentiments. I use these little gems on cards, scrapbook pages, and home decor pieces. They are so versatile and can be shaded to match your projects. After posting that video, I decided that would share with you a few ways that you can use them on your creations.
In my group, I shared the full card making process showing ways to shade the images. On the shutter card, I used two heard shapes and an arrow.

To add some color to the wood shapes on the first card, I used our Metallic Markers, Stickles, and ReInkers. The larger heart was first shaded with the Metallic Marker to give it a deep vibrant color then it was painted with Stickles to add some shimmer and shine.
On the smaller heart, I used our Carolina Blue ReInkers. I used the ink in full strength to give it deep staining. If you want a lighter tone, you can add water to the ink before applying it to the wood. I have also added reinkers to paint to create a chalk paint stain. You can view that technique here on my Spring Tags project.

The other elements used on this card are our In This Together papers and stickers, our Stitched Hexagon Thin Cuts dies, some little dots, and thread.
On the second card, I used Liquid Pearls and Gloss Spray to shade the wood flower shapes. When you are using the Gloss Spray, make sure that you are using an all-purpose mat or a surface that you can clean easily. These sprays can cause a bit of a mess if you aren’t careful.

After using the Gloss Spray, make sure to clean the nozzle. If the paint dries on the tip, it will be difficult to clean the next time you use it on a project.
The pink glossy flowers on this card are covered with two coats of Liquid Pearls that I painted onto the wood. I love how shimmery and soft these shapes look.

I also added a wood button to this card which I chose to keep plain bare wood. To embellish the button, I added some thread to match the quilt-like theme of the card.
In the video, I also share how to use Liquid Glass with paper to add more color and patterns to your wood shapes. As I said, this video has been scaled down to a quick Five Minute Find for you to be inspired by. To see the full hour-long process video, you will need to request to join my private facebook group (this group is not for consultants).
I hope that today’s Five Minute Find video inspired you to try something new and gave you a few ideas for using wood shapes on your paper crafting projects.
I hope you have a wonderful week!!
I hope this inspired you to try something new. If you have any questions about this project or the supplies listed above, feel free to leave me a comment.

Hey friends! I wanted to let you in on the products I use in my videos. Just so you know, I’m not getting paid to promote any of them, but I do have some affiliate links available if you want to check them out.
