Brighten Up a Card Design for Earth Day

Creativity can truly blossom from unexpected places, and my journey in transforming a fall-themed card into a vibrant spring design for Earth Day was a testament to that. During last week’s Crafty Coffee Hour, the focus was on a card kit I developed in a live planning session, and I was excited about this project. My goal was to replicate this cozy fall card using stamped images and a vibrant spring color scheme.

Although it was beyond my usual style, I decided to explore various patterns and colors. To capture the essence of Earth Day with circular shapes, I opted for a larger globe stamp adorned with floral designs. This stamp, a delightful find from SCT, has been on my to-use-list for some time.

If you tuned in to the livestream, you might have observed that I deviated from the script slightly. My decision-making involved considerations such as card rotation, pattern paper colors, adding stitching, and choosing sentiments. While this provided valuable insights into the details of card making, it did not allow me to complete the card within the allocated hour.

I was, however, able to share some insights to coloring with TriBlend markers as well as some layering techniques. One of my favorites was cutting apart the stamped image to create a multi-layered design.

Although my mind was a bit cluttered, I remained committed to finishing the project. After the livestream concluded, I grabbed a cup of coffee and decided to incorporate machine stitching, a larger sentiment in black cardstock, and delicate floral accents. These elements added a cohesiveness to the overall design.

Despite the challenges and doubts that arose, I was determined to finish this project. It may not perfectly mirror the original inspiration piece, but it stands as a unique creation. Remember, every project is a learning experience, and each creative hurdle is an opportunity for growth and innovation.

I hope this inspired you to try something new. If you have any questions about this project or the supplies listed above, feel free to leave me a comment.
