Create Textured Scrapbook Backgrounds with Craft Dies

Have you ever considered using your craft dies to create a dynamic scrapbook page background? Today, I am thrilled to share another scrapbook project packed full of techniques and creative ideas to inspire your next layout. Join me as I walk you through the process of creating this page and share some of my favorite paper crafting tips with you.

This project features the Hip Kit Club June kit, which boasts a unique and vibrant color palette of blue, orange, and green hues. This collection is ideal for capturing everyday moments or vacation adventures and it provided the perfect backdrop for our Lake Nona trip photos.

One of the standout features of this scrapbook page is the textured background created using craft dies and pattern paper. By layering the cityscape die over a striped background, I achieved a look reminiscent of a bustling skyline. The multi-color design adds a dynamic touch to the layout, bringing our black and white photo to life.

Rub-on transfers are a versatile and fun addition to any scrapbook page. In this project, I used them as a title and around my photo and journaling. One handy tip I share in the video is using mint tape to secure the carrier sheet, allowing you to check if the entire image has transferred before removing it. This ensures a perfect application every time.

Journaling is a vital part of scrapbooking, and Iโ€™ve found a fun way to incorporate it into this layout. My journal cards are usually blank as I gift my scrapbook pages to friends and family, however, since this page is for my husband and me, I added personal story this time.

I ran the die cut through my printer and embellished the space with die cuts, chipboard, and rub-on shapes, creating a personalized touch. If you’re interested in learning how to print on die cuts, be sure to check out another video on my YouTube channel that covers this technique in detail.

Today, I want to give you a closer look at how this scrapbook page came together. In the video below, I demonstrate how to create the textured background design with craft dies and pattern paper, and share tips and techniques to help you make the most of the June Hip Kit.

I hope that you enjoyed this video tutorial and the tips I shared for achieving balance with visual triangles. Take some time this week to go through your craft dies and choose a few for your next scrapbook page. Donโ€™t forget to share your creations with meโ€”Iโ€™d love to see what you come up with!
