If you are new to using mood boards, let me explain their purpose. A mood board is a visual tool used for inspiration in various creative projects. It typically consists of a collection of images, colors, textures, and objects that evoke a particular theme or mood. They are an excellent way to expand your creative thinking.

The first image that caught my eye was the pastel rainbow of pencils with floating hearts. This sparked the idea for a striped rainbow background adorned with embroidery stitches and butterflies in soft pastel hues.
I used a combination of cardstock butterfly die cuts to match the image on this sweet babyโs shirt, but you can alter this background to fit your photos. The design can easily be replicated with another die shape, color combination, or mixed media element.

The images in the a mood board serve as a catalyst for your creativity. For me, it was the soft florals and how they conveyed a sense of lightness and whimsy.
Drawing from the mood board, I chose a mix of sticker flowers and pattern paper-cut blooms in soft pastel shades. These were layered behind the photo in a diagonal pattern similar to the butterfly background.

Pay attention to the details and themes present on the mood board. There are always items that you can infuse your project.
I am a huge fan of vintage pieces, and the soft green camera was such a unique piece. I incorporated this into my design with a little paper clip from the Hip Kit collection.

The colors, patterns, images, and shapes from the mood board were all sources of inspiration for me. I was also inspired by the shape of the spring banner and I aimed to include it in my design.
To recreate a similar look, I arranged puffy letter stickers on an arched die-cut cardstock, complemented by a delicate butterfly image positioned elegantly above the title, bringing the theme together harmoniously.

This diverse selection of images, colors, patterns, and textures, helped me effectively convey the mood, tone, and aesthetic I wanted to achieve. Not all the items on my page are identical to the mood board, but it served as a wonderful inspiration piece for my scrapbook design.
In my short video, I share more ways that this mood board inspired me and tell you how you can join the mood board challenge each month.
