This December to Remember layout was created using the November Hip Kit Collection. The photo on this two-page traveler’s notebook layout is filled with vibrant holiday colors and the November collection provided me with the perfect elements. I’m excited to share how it all came together.

The highlight of the page is the intricate, stenciled background. Multiple layers of trees were crafted using stencil butter, ink, and modeling paste to create a winter wonderland scene.

Using a stencil from the November Color Kit, I produced a colorful collection of pine trees across the page, with hues that match the lights in the photo. I offset the color of the two shades of Catherine Pooler ink with modeling paste, then added a touch of shimmer with stencil butter to give it a radiant glow.
The November Hip Kit collection has a lovely set of vellum die cuts which I clustered on the left side of my layout. These transparent phrases, when combined with chipboard elements, added to the festive atmosphere of my page.

Vellum can be difficult to adhere to a project because the adhesive often shows through. In my video, I share a few tips to help you hide the adhesive when you add these items to your page.
The subtle cluster of die cuts near the central photo were carefully chosen to complement the vellum cluster and and maintain balance throughout the page.

Notice how similar trees, colors, and shapes are used in every area. By repeating these elements, you create a sense of cohesion and unity throughout your design.
In this tutorial, I share ways to strategically place elements to guide the viewer’s gaze and enhance the flow of your design. You will also learn valuable tips on using mixed media elements, like vellum die cuts, to enhance your scrapbook pages.
