Pocket Life kits are often associated with scrapbooking, but let me take you beyond those boundaries. I’ve discovered a whole new world using these journal cards to create gorgeous projects. In today’s video, I am going to share how I turned a simple Pocket Life kit into two fall-themed cards.
The rich hues, seasonal patterns, and images in the October Hip Kit collection brings a touch of fall warmth to each of these creations. As you know, I am not a Pocket Life memory keeper, but I do enjoy using these collections as accents for my pages, Travelers Notebooks and cards.

The Creative Process
Begin by exploring the untapped potential of the Pocket Life Kit. Patterns in the kit make wonderful card bases. I especially enjoy the large 6″ x 8″ cards for full size backers and 3″ x 6″ for slimline designs,
For the background of this card, I opted for a simplistic stripe pattern and a woodgrain for the frame. Both elements emit a cozy fall vibe.
Elevate your design with Pocket Card prints and patterns. Pocket cards provide that added flair on your designs. Incorporating florals, stripes, phrases, and frames can take your card projects to the next level.
In the center of each frame, I added a small element from this collection. The bundle of florals on the first card created the perfect background for my cluster of leaves and pumpkins. On the second card, I created a sentiment.
Transform the journal cards gorgeous fall-themed elements. Instead of using cardstock for the leaf die cuts, I selected solid patterns and prints from the kit.
Stripes, dots, journal lines, and frames can also be used to enhance your die cut images.
To create the stripes on my clip at the top, I laid the metal die over that portion of the journal card. Little details like this can add so much more to a design.
