A Watercolor Spring Coffee Card

I have truly enjoyed being a guest designer on the Coffee Loving Card Makers blog. Today, I have a gorgeous watercolor card full of texture, dimension, and color. I will be sharing some beginner watercolor tips with you as I create this card and share a few ways to add texture to your stamped images.

With such a striking watercolor image, I didn’t want the background to compete with the florals. I chose to create a glitter paste stencil design on a six-inch card background using a Corner Mandala. The curves on that stencil match the floral elements beautifully.

To frame the image, I added a some clear gems. I know that I don’t usually add this much bling, but I feel like they bring your focus to that floral piece.

I love adding texture to my projects, and this card is no exception. Not only do I have that glitter paste in the background, I also added some prills and pearls to my flowers.

Those little touches bring a project to life. Watercolors can appear flat when you are stil learn how to add dimension, and those elements help you add some needed texture.

The Spring Coffee image is shaded using watercolor paints with white gel pen highlights. The gel pens allow me to add some light to the image where I wasn’t able to with paints.

I am still a novice at using watercolors, and I have a lot to learn. In my video, I share a few beginner tips that have helped me when I paint with watercolors.

I hope this project inspired all the readers on the Coffee Loving Cardmaker blog today. The simple background on this card draws your eyes to those lovely layered elements. The pattern papers are subtle with a bit of stitching, and the embellishments give this card some texture.
