Creating Cards with Layered Leaves Thin Cuts Dies

A Heart2Heart Challenge

For this week’s October challenge you can create anything you desire, so I decided to play with one of my favorite metal die set – the Layered Leaves Thin Cuts.  These thin cuts have been one of my favorites this fall, and I am going to be so sad to see them go in only a few short days.  You have through October 31st♥ to snag these gems and to join us at the Heart2Heart blog for this month’s challenges. 

The Layered Leaves thin cuts brought me such joy when I was creating, that I made THREE cards to share with you today. I wanted to show multiple ways that you could use these metal dies♥ and inspire you to join one of our challenges.  The first card I designed, Thanksgiving Tree Trimming, was created by cutting a maple leaf from watercolor paper. 

After the leaf was cut, I created a background with watercolor paints, let it dry, then stamped the vintage truck image using Intense Black Ink. I shaded the truck using some TriBlend markers and attached the leaf to the corrugated paper background along with with a loop of gold embellishing thread. On my second card, I also used the maple leaf, but, as you can see, I produced an inked image using a stencil♥. 

Our thin cuts are sturdy enough to cut through stencil material which allowed me to manufacture a few stencils to use with inks and texture paste.  This Layered Leaf Thank You card went together quickly♥. After inking the stenciled image, I layered a few leaf die cuts, a star, some embellishing thread, and attached some gems.

Well, if you haven’t, I have one more card to share with your today.  This All Smiles for Fall card is one of my favorites. I cut the leaf out of French Vanilla cardstock, then embossed the piece with the cut out image. After layering the embossed cardstock onto  the background, I attached the leaves with foam dots, added some burlap ribbon, and a sentiment from a Hawthorn paper zip-strip.
