Raise your hand if you just can’t help yourself when you hear the word “vintage”.♥ Personally, anything that reminds me of my great-grandparents and grandparents fills me with nostalgia. This week, for the Color My Heart Color Dare Blog, you have been given a palette of colors that reminded me of some vintage photos I came across a while back.
Can’t you just picture the cars, wallpaper, and appliances in these colors? Remember the smells – butch wax, smoke, old wood, and new leather. As the memories flooded back, I just couldn’t help myself and had to create something worthy of the vintage vibe♥ of this color challenge.
This week, I chose to use Ballerina, Saffron, and Peacock♥ on my Vintage Vibe Thank You card. The images were stamped using two of our current fall stamp sets – A True Classic and the Hawthorn Cardmaking..
After stamping and heat embossing my images, I shaded each one with a variety of TriBlend Markers. This is the first time I have had a chance to use these new markers, and I am hooked. I am greatly enjoying the ability to add multiple layers of color and shading from just one marker.
The stamped images were then layered onto Ballerina and Peacock cardstock. When I first starting assembling the card, I felt like the Peacock base was a little plain, so I embossed Vellum with the Stitched Circles embossing folder and placed it upon the base with a strip of ribbon. I personally feel like it adds another layer of texture to the design. What do you think?♥
I hope that this card has inspired you to join us for the Color My Heart Challenge. You have until October 25th to share your design with us. Stop by the blog and check out the other challenges we have this week and be inspired by all the creators who join us each month.
Don’t forget!♥ The products I used on this card are available, while supplies last, through October 31st. You don’t want to miss out on getting yourself that awesome A True Classic stamp set. Think of the Christmas cards you could create with this one!!
♥I can’t wait to see what you create!
That pink truck! I’m hooked on the new markers also. Beautiful card.
Aren’t they fun?! I haven’t had a chance to use them much, but I am so excited with all the possibilities.
That is an amazing combination! Wonderful!
Thank you. I had hoped it would work out and am so pleased that it did.
Love your color selection and the pink truck. Although it wasn’t a pink truck, but a black used car in the driveway, packed with luggage. My Dad was sitting on the porch steps waiting for the mailman in anticipation of getting his driver’s license and at that time they didn’t tell you whether you passed or not but he was quite sure he had. With license in hand we left that day for our weekend trip. Thanks for the memory.
What an awesome memory! Your father must have had such an adventurous spirit and positive attitude to be packed and ready like that.
What a cool pink truck! Love how you blended that color with the other fall elements.
Thank you, Michelle. I have been enjoying trying different techniques with these markers.
WOW! I love this card! I love how you embossed the velum to soften the base! Love the fall, vintage vibe!!
