I Dig You Valentine Card ~ A Heart2Heart Challenge

For those of you who find Valentine’s Day to be “punny” and ultra-cheesy, this week’s project has been ♥designed just for you♥.  It’s a simple card that I created for the Heart2Heart Stamped Background Challenge  using some papers and complements from the Something Fierce collection and has been titled “I Dig You Valentine” (get it?🙄)

I know, ultra-cheesy, but it works when you are playing with dinosaurs.  If you would like to recreate this super-punny card for the one you “dig”, here are a few tips for you as well as list of the supplies I used to make mine.

♥ The card base was created with a piece of Black cardstock, followed by a piece of Something Fierce paper, then a Stitched Rectangle cut from Candy Apple Cardstock.
♥ I felt the White Daisy cardstock behind the dinosaurs was a bit bland, so I used Mink Ink and stamped a repeated border design using our Border Melody stamp set to create a background. I then splattered it with a Black Shimmer Brush for added dimension.
♥ Originally both dinosaur stickers were a shade of pink, so I used my Red Shimmer Brush to add some shading. He also held a yellow balloon, which I trimmed off, and added a heart in it’s place – again shaded with a Red Shimmer Brush.
♥ The borders across the base of the card were created with a Border Melody stamp, some Silver Embellishing Thread, and leftover Gingham Ribbon from the Short Story By Stacy kit.
♥ To create the sentiment, I cut out one of the footprints from the “I dig dinosaurs” icons on the Something Fierce cut-apart page, then stamped the “U” using Pewter Ink with the Modern Typewriter Alphabet stamp set. (one of my favorites that is 35% off this month). The dots were created using a White Gel Pen.

To be honest, I wasn’t competently confident about posting this silly little card with all it’s puns and childlike qualities, but my dear hubby convinced me that there is someone who might “dig it” (gotta l♥ve him 🙄).
