Fun Cardmaking Ideas with the Crafty Babe Collection
If you’re a paper crafter, chances are you have a growing stash of dies tucked away in your craft room. Maybe you bought them for a specific scrapbook layout or project and havenโt used them since. You’re not alone! Thatโs why I love sharing new ways to use the dies you already own. I want you to get more out of your crafty tools and feel inspired again.
Today Iโm featuring a fun cardmaking project using the Crafty Babe Collection. These journal block dies are typically used for scrapbooking, but Iโve repurposed them to create a playful, dimensional card that works for any occasion.

The Crafty Babe Collection is a collaboration between Spellbinders and Simple Stories. It features adorable icons with journal blocks designed to celebrate our love for crafting โ think scissors, hearts, flowers, and vintage cameras. These dies are ideal for scrapbook embellishments, but they’re also the perfect size for handmade cards.

I wanted to show you how scrapbooking dies can be used in cardmaking to create clean, colorful, and layered designs. Each die in this set brings a fun and nostalgic feel to the project while offering lots of creative flexibility.

To create each square on the card, I first die cut the images from white cardstock. Then I cut each shape again using a variety of bright, colorful papers. I added foam tape to the back of the white squares and carefully inlaid each colored shape into its space.
This easy inlay technique adds height and dimension without making the card too bulky. It also allows each icon to shine while giving the entire design a polished, professional look.

Donโt be afraid to use contrasting stitching on your cards. Itโs a great way to frame elements and give your card a cohesive layout. This stitched background creates a clean, modern look while helping each colorful icon pop. It also adds texture and draws the eye across the entire design.
I hope this project sparks some inspiration and helps you see your die collection in a new light. Whether you use the Crafty Babe Collection for cards, planners, or scrapbook pages, there are so many fun ways to make these dies work for any project.
