Create Cozy Fall Cards with Stitched Pumpkins

If youโ€™ve followed me for a while, you already know how much I adore adding stitching details to my handmade cards. Thereโ€™s something so calming about running thread through paper and watching a design come to life. When Spellbinders sent me their September Stitching Die of the Month, I could hardly wait to get started!

This monthโ€™s set is called Stitched Pumpkin Tops, and itโ€™s a beautiful way to bring cozy fall details to your projects. Nothing says fall like cozy colors, stitched details, and a few pretty pumpkins. It was the perfect way to welcome the season into my craft room!

I wanted to give this card an elegant feel. Instead of traditional orange pumpkins, I opted for a softer color palette of white, pink, and tan. Each pumpkin was stitched with matching DMC thread, then accented with delicate gold embroidery outlines.

To carry that metallic touch through the design, I cut the stems and vines from gold paper. For contrast, I brought in deep burgundy and rich teal leaves. These darker tones helped highlight the lighter pumpkins and gave the card a timeless, classic feel.

When designing this card, I wanted the pumpkins to feel like they were sitting on a rustic wood platform. To achieve this, I blended a soft blue ink at the top of my panel, fading into a peachy-brown at the base.

Using a bit of mint tape, I masked off areas and added darker ink lines across the bottom, which created the illusion of wooden boards. Itโ€™s a simple trick, but it adds so much dimension to the background.

To finish the design, I added a bold โ€œhelloโ€ sentiment cut from gold metallic paper and a playful โ€œgourd-geousโ€ banner in the same burgundy shade as the leaves. The cohesive mix of colors and textures tied everything together beautifully.

If youโ€™ve been wanting to try stitched die designs, the Spellbinders Stitching Die of the Month Club is such a wonderful way to start. Each month, members receive an exclusive die set designed for stitching, but donโ€™t worry they also work beautifully without thread!

Along with your die set, youโ€™ll receive project inspiration and at least one detailed tutorial to help spark ideas. Plus, club members enjoy extra perks like exclusive discounts, special savings in the Spellbinders shop, and even surprise gifts throughout the year.

If stitching is something youโ€™ve been curious about, or if youโ€™re like me and simply love adding thread to your papercrafts, this is a club youโ€™ll definitely want to check out.

Hey friends! I wanted to let you in on the products I use in my videos.
