Rotate the Sketch with bestof30dscbl

Sketches are a great way to get the creative juices flowing. You can choose to create a project exactly like the design or put your own spin on it. Today, I am sharing an Easter scrapbook page that I created using a Pagemaps sketch. As you can see, the page looks nothing like the sketch shown, but I did add some elements from the design to my page.

SUPPLIES | Flower Garden Collection, Vellum Paper, Lovely Peony, Bramble Fox Title, Distress Oxide Ink, Tab Die

My photos were vertical so I decided to rotate the sketch. I picked out a lovely floral pattern from Carta Bella for the background. I cut the patterns behind my photos a little smaller, added ribbon between, and a scallop on the side.

I also mimicked the circular element on the page. This lovely peony just arrived and I couldn’t wait to use it. In my video, I show you how to shade this with re-inkers using distress oxides.

Vellum is one of my favorites, and this page called for it. Instead of green leaves, I added that soft opaque texture. This gave me the shape of a leaf without the color.

Even though this was an Easter layout, I felt like the story behind the photos was more important. This was one of the few times we spent with our niece and she was so scared she barely smiled.

She took a liking to my daughter and began to warm up to us when she received a pink fluffy. I used photo editing software to shade the little animal pink to help tell the story.

I also chose a title that reflected the story about how much she is loved. Even when family dynamics take over, we love the children with all our hearts and wish we could see them more often.

Around that lovely title from Bramble Fox, I added a few other embellishments to form a grouping like the sketch. This collection fills the space will without competing against the watercolor floral in the background.

In my video, I share some tips for creating a faded look with re-inkers and show you how all the elements from the sketch came together on this page.

Even though this layout doesn’t look exactly like the sketch, I was inspired by some of the elements in the design. Sketches are meant to inspire and I hope that today’s project inspired you.
