Before delving into the tutorial below, let me reveal how I achieved this stunning mixed media appearance without the mess. Mixed media has always posed a challenge for me. Not only do I struggle with the dry time, but I am still learning how to layer various mediums. For this project, I opted to use a single medium.

Stamping ink is one of the more versatile mediums in my collection. To create this background, I mixed the ink with water and applied it randomly on mixed media cardstock. The soft pastel blend came out beautifully, and it dried quickly with the help of my heat tool.
Professional watercolor backgrounds typically feature large pools of vibrant colors, but I often find myself struggling to create them neatly. With the help of Splatter Pattern Hip Kit stamps, the process became effortless. All I needed to do was stamp the splatter images onto similar-colored areas using water-reactive ink.

The Hip Kit collection also includes two sheets of clear watercolor stickers. These added instant charm and dimension to my design. The vivid colors contrasted beautifully with the softer hues and they were a perfect match to the other elements I wanted to add to the page.
The final piece was that beautiful layer of floral cuts puzzled pieced together over the watercolor design. Cut files are perfect for adding unique patterns to your pages, giving them a personalized touch.

Over the top of this amazing background, I layered a heart and finished it off with an embroidered frame. I love how it turned out, don’t you?
