Do you enjoy piling on the layers or do you prefer keeping your cards sleek and simple? Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and many of you will be creating some lovely cards for the holiday.  Instead of a making a single card, I decided to make two designs and let you choose which one fits your crafting style.

Both cards are adorned with die cuts from the Tim Holtz Vault 2 collection by Sizzix. These were recently released to bring back some former designs, in new sizes and upgraded with new metal die technology. Boutique and World Traveler are two of the collections used on these Mother’s Day cards. I’ll be sharing more of the Vault 2 collections in the coming weeks on some scrapbook projects.

SUPPLIES | Vault 2 Bundle, Boutique Die Set, World Travel Die Set, Idea-Ology Backdrops, Idea-Ology Organic Layers, Card Base, White Cardstock, Vellum, Cinnamon Ink, Clear Drops, P6 Die Cutting Machine, Magic Mat, Stack-n-Sort Trays, Magnetic Die Sheet, Blending Brush, Silicone Mat, Clear Mat, Reverse Tweezers, Sanding Disc, Pick Up Tool, Clear Craft Glue, Artis Glue, Tape Runner, Foam Adhesive, Scissors, Sewing Machine

The first card has a more elevated, intricate design with layers of die cuts, printed images, patterned paper, and a rolled flower. The distressed and inked edges enhance its vintage appeal, catering to moms like me who appreciate antique or upcycled items.

The charm is reminiscent of a bygone era and the unique combination of layers adds multiple textures to the card. It evokes a sense of warmth and sentimentality.

The second design is equally stunning, featuring uncomplicated layers. A delicate pink lace doily, a modest floral detail, patterned paper, and a heartfelt sentiment are all you need to create this charming Mother’s Day card.

The combination of these elements creates a beautiful and heartfelt design. It is easier to assemble and doesn’t take much time at all.

In this short tutorial, you can choose between an elevated card featuring intricate layers, delicate distressing, and a stunning rolled flower OR opt for a simpler yet equally elegant card with just a few layers.

These two cards were designed specifically for the upcoming holiday, but their versatile designs make them suitable for almost any occasion.  I hope you enjoyed these helpful tips on distressing and flower rolling, along with two delightful Mother’s Day card options using new dies from the Tim Holtz Vault 2 release.
