Before you scroll down to the video, I want to share how I used items in my kit to craft a summery page that is both visually appealing and richly textured. Let’s dive into some of the techniques and tips, which you can easily replicate in your own scrapbooking projects.
Breaking up patterns is a fantastic way to utilize the beautiful prints in your collection without overwhelming your page. On this layout, I divided a busy pattern paper into three pieces. This method not only showcases the pattern in a new light but also creates room for some white space where the eye can rest, balancing the overall design.
Remember, you don’t always have to use patter papers in their entirety. You can divide it up as I did, trim down a larger piece and frame it, or cut out a portion of a pattern like the flowers I used around my photos.
Adding a tactile element to your paper makes it more engaging and livens up a simple pattern. In my video, I shared how wrapping embroidery thread around the pattern strips added texture and gave my embellishments a place to sit.
One of my top tips that I like to share is applying embroidery wax to my thread. This technique helps prevent the floss from separating and adds some stability to the thread.
On the embroidery thread, I hung die cuts and acrylic shapes to enhance the visual interest. Using a monochrome approach with embellishments matching the pattern paper helps to create a harmonious and balanced feel. This prevents the page from becoming too chaotic and ensures that each element complements rather than competes with the others.
Creating a balanced scrapbook page is all about thoughtful selection and placement of your elements. In today’s video, I share how you can achieve a similar look using items from your craft collection.
By following these tips, you can create beautiful, balanced scrapbook pages that capture the essence of your spring and summer memories. The May Hip Kit is a fantastic resource, but don’t hesitate to dive into your existing collection and experiment with different combinations.
