A Simple Black & White Christmas Card for Heart2Heart

Christmas is right around the corner, and I am doing my best to get some cards made before it’s too late. (Although, I will admit, have been known to mail them on Christmas Eve. Before we get into the Christmas hustle, we have another challenge for you at Heart2Heart.72365998_10156940725983089_7814988235418894336_o.jpg

This Black Friday challenge is one of those themes that is left for your imagination to decipher.  In the US, Black Friday was originally designed as a way for stores to get “out of the red” and “into the black” before the end of the year. For me, it meant designing a card using as much BLACK as possible, leading me to create this Joy to the World Christmas card.

After learning why Black Friday was originally created, I found this card quite fitting – “getting out of the black and into the red” or “out of the darkness and into the light.”  Personally, I feel like the photos do not do the card justice.  The sentiment was stamped  in White Pigment ink using the Joy to the World stamp set, then heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.

After wrapping the Silver Embellishing Thread, I attached the Black cardstock to a piece of distressed White Daisy cardstock, then layered it atop Silver Foil Paper.  The Poinsettia was cut on my Cricut™ from White Daisy, Vellum, and Black cardstock.  I wish you could see all the glitter and opaque layers on this card. Like I said, the photo does not do it justice.

I hope that this card has inspired you to join us at the Heart2Heart blog for this month’s challenge. While you are there, make sure to check out the other November challenges.

I can’t wait to see what you create!
