A Card for the Dog Lover

Created for the Color Dare Color Challenge

This week, at the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge, we have been tasked with creating a project using only browns and a splash of color.  If you would like to join this challenge, you will need to link your project at the Color Dare Blog before December 6th.

Even though this week’s challenge was a bit difficult for me, it gave me a chance to play with the new Eat, Play, Love stamp set.  This stamp set is only available during the month of November, and it is the perfect stamp set for dog lovers. (Don’t worry, we have one for cat lovers, too.)

Since I was only allowed to use a splash of color and neutrals with the brown, I chose to shade my dog using a white watercolor pencil on Kraft paper.  For my ‘pop of color”, I used a patterned paper from the Best Friends FURever paper pack in shades of Bluebird and cut it into cloud shapes using my Cricut™.

The sentiment was stamped using Black Ink which, unfortunately, ran a bit on the Kraft paper. (If you have any tips for preventing this, please let me know.) I wanted the sentiment to stand out, so I took a White Gel Pen and filled in the letters.  The same pen was used to add faux stitching to the card and the clouds.  If you are not a dog lover, this card could easily be replicated using the Kitty Cuddles stamp set.

I hope this card has inspired you to join us at the Color My Heart Color Dare blog and share your creation using only browns and a splash of color.  Remember, the Best Friends FURever stamps, paper packs, and mini-album kit are only available, while supplies last, through November 30th.

I can’t wait to see what you create!
