Gold Cardmaking Confidence

A COLOR MY HEART COLOR DARE CHALLENGE

Gold is not a color on my wheel – I don’t even  wear gold jewelry – but today, I decided to explore the possibilities for the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge.  This week, we are inviting you to join us for a Silver or Gold Challenge AND I have a free gift for those of you who join this challenge.  You are to choose Gold or Silver with two accent colors. Are you ready? (Don’t forget to read all the way through to learn about your free gift.)

Like I said, Gold is not something I use very often. Maybe the occasional Christmas card or anniversary gift, but not on my everyday color grid. I am more of a brassy, pewter girl. Today, I decided that it was high-time I explored some of our Gold products and this is what I came up with – a Simple Sand Dollar card.

Honestly, it turned out so much better than I had hoped. For my accent colors, I chose to use Almond and Peacock to reflect the Sea and Sand.♥  The Sand Dollar image was stamped using VersaMark™ Ink, then heat embossed with our Gold Tinsel Embossing Powder. (I have become fond of the texture that the Tinsel Embossing Powder brings to a project.)

After stamping the image, I used a Waterbrush with Almond Ink to shade the Sand Dollar. As I explored my Gold options, I realized that I could add a little Gold Shimmer to the center of the Sand Dollar.  Shimmer Brushes are one of my “must-have” tools.

Once the stamped image was complete, I cut out a Stencil and some Seaweed-like images from our Cricut Collections using my Air 2 machine™.  I used the Stencil to add some Texture Paste to my inked background, then layered the random plants, which were cut from Vellum and Gold Foil paper, onto the card.

FREEBIE ALERT:
The Design Space File™  I created includes the stencil and leaf images. It is free to anyone who links their project to this challenge & comments below with a link to their creation.

A few final touches of White & Gold Twine, Gold Glitter Gems, and some splashes of Gold Shimmer and it was ready to be layered onto the card base. I even took the time to finish off the inside of the card using the You Are My Sunshine stamp set. (The purchase of this stamp set helps to provide a SMILE through Operation Smile.)

I adore the textures, contrast of color, and the overall simplicity of this card.  I hope that it inspires you to join the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge this month.  All you have to do is upload your creation to our Facebook Page and we will link it to the blog. How easy is that?? AND you get a FREE Design Space™ file from me just for participating. (Don’t forget to comment below with a link to your creation.)

I can’t wait to see what you create!
