A Simple Banner for The Wearin’ o’ the Green Challenge

Whether you follow me on Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, or here, you will notice that I often create ♥seasonal home decorations♥ and most end up in my craftroom. With our home currently under renovation, this is the only place I have control over so I make sure it is a space I can retreat to during the madness.  This week, I decided to take part in the Wearin’ o’ the Green Challenge♣ that is being host by both Heart2Heart and Double Trouble and created a simple ♣St. Patrick’s Day Banner♣ to brighten up my room.

I began by opening up Design Space™ (one of my favorite places to be) and created the Clovers using our Flower Market collection. These images are already designed to be three-dimensional, so I didn’t have to manipulate them to create this great effect. I wanted to ♥add a little texture to the clovers♥, so I used a Swiss Dot embossing folder to dry emboss the leaves, some Toffee ink on the edges, and a Cork Shape in the center. The small Flags were made using simple Triangle shapes sized to 1.5″ x 2.75″ then decorated with ♥small Heart shapes♥ to match. I cut these from White Daisy, Clover, and Kraft paper, then sponged the edges with Toffee ink. I had debated making some of the flags gold or orange (to match the Irish flag), but my home is full of primitive decor so the Kraft Paper seemed to be a better choice. I like how well it goes with the Cork Shapes and Jute Twine. 
Last, but not least, those ♥ADORABLE Paper Pom-Poms♥. I created those using our Fringe Border from the Fancy Border Thin Cuts.  I will post a tutorial next Tuesday showing you how to create your own set of Pom-Poms. 

After all of the components were assembled, I attached them to some Jute Twine. If you look closely, you can see that I added a few frayed knots near each of the Pom-Poms. This not only keeps them in place, but it adds some ♥distressed primitive texture♥ to the banner.
