Reasons to Use the Position Feature in Cricut Design Space™

We have all seen it on the Edit Bar in Design Space™, but do you have any clue why it is there? The Position feature is one of the least used by most crafters, because most of us don’t know how to use it. Well, my friend, today I want to show you a few reasons why this is a feature you will want to take advantage of the next time you are in Design Space.™

What is the Position Tool?

Good question. The Position tool was designed to allow you to precisely place images in a specific spot on the Canvas. Originally, Cricut™ designed this feature to help you Align your images, but now that we have Align options, Position is forgotten about.

When using the Position feature, you will need to remember what the X and Y numbers represent. (Yes, we are flashing back to our high school math days.) The “X” represents the horizontal ↔ position of the image on your Canvas, while the “Y” represents the vertical ↕ location. I like to remind myself that the “Y” has a “Vertical” tail. Before you start having flashbacks of your teen years, let me show you a one of the ways I like to take advantage of this feature.

Finding Those Lost Images

How many times have you inserted an image, and feel like you have lost your mind when you can’t find it on your Canvas? You can see it right there in the Layers Panel, but it is nowhere to be found. You can see here, I have inserted two images from the You Are Here Collection, but that Hiking Boot appears to be missing.

Now I am not quite sure why Design Space™ does this. I honestly think it is to test my sanity, but when I click on the Boot image on the right, it scrolls me all the way down to the bottom of my Canvas.

Now I could just try to drag the boot all the way back up, but I am all about working smarter not harder. It’s much faster to just type in the Position where I want the image to be and it moves there for me.

Using the Position feature to find my lost images is only ONE of the reasons I use the Position feature in Design Space™. Next week, I am going to show you how I use this feature when I am creating cards & boxes. June Kit of the Month

When I sit down to design a layout for my Kit of the Month club members, I try to create something that “most” of them will be able to use.  I felt a little challenged using the True Love papers for something not entirely love related. (unless you are like me, and have a love for the outdoors.) As you can see, I decided to go a entirely different direction with this paper suite, and I hope you like it.

I have titled this month’s kit “My Happy Place is Outdoors”.  As a Kit of the Month Club subscriber, you will be receiving this kit in the mail in June. If you live locally,  you can save on shipping by arranging to pick-up these kits at one of my local workshops or crops.

On this layout I used the True Love papers along with various images from our Cricut™ collections. If you feel like this layout doesn’t have enough spaces for photos, it has been designed to fit perfectly with our vertical 4″ x 6″Pocket Plus™ Memory Protectors.

(NOTE: If you are a consultant, you can use the True Love Bulk papers on this layout.)

If you are like me, you have quite the collection of outdoor photos. This layout allows you to make changes to the size of the photos or use some Flip-Flaps to add more of your pictures to the layout.TrueLoveJuneKOTM_MyHappyPlaceisOutdoorsStore

April Give-Away ~ Easter Place Setting Card

It’s time to announce my April give-away!  This month, I have created an exclusive Cricut Design Space™ file that you can use to make these delightful Easter place setting cards for your holiday guests.

Aren’t these the sweetest? Each one was designed, by me, using images from our Close to My Heart Cricut™ collections.  As a special gift to you for placing an order on my website, I will send you the link to this exclusive Design Space™ project.  You will need to own the Cricut™ collections I used to create the project.

My Easter table cards are sized at 5½” x 4¼” to fit inside an envelope (in case you want to mail them) and are designed to hold a package of seeds. The gardener in me couldn’t resist adding a little bit of fun to the package. I chose to use some papers from our Feels Like Home, Mix-Ins, and I Heart Us collection, but you could use anything you own that matches your table decor.

This FREE exclusive Cricut Design Space™ project file is only available through the month of April and given as a Thank you gift for anyone who places an order on my website. It will not be available for purchase.  I will be creating a few more of these for our Easter guests and would love to see what you make for your’s.  Feel free to post your creation in my VIP Facebook Group for others to see.
