Creating a Fall Blessings Card for Color My Heart Dare

It’s a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge at Color My Heart Dare, and, this week, we are asking you to use up a few of those leftover supplies as we create with retired CTMH colors.  As you will see, I chose to use some “non-typical” fall colors to create a Fall Blessing card.  Before I show you my project, let’s look at the Tic-Tac-Toe Board.68773621_10214613503073271_2758369061397069824_n.jpg

Choose a row, column, or diagonal to create something new, then link your creation before September 27th.  I chose to use the color palette from Row two with Pomegranate and Emerald, then added my color of choice –  Goldrush. Why Goldrush? Our Love of Color Book shows Goldrush as a complementary color to Emerald, and I felt that this would be the perfect color combination for a Fall card.

I felt like the Goldrush cardstock was a bit too harsh for my background, so I inked our Stitched Circles Embossing Folder, and ran it through my embossing machine. If you have never created an Inked Embossed Background before, you can view a tutorial HERE.  I layered my cardstock, added some stitching, then began stamping the leaves using the Hawthorn Scrapbooking Stamp set. misscarriescreations-hawthornsbstampthincut.jpg

I wanted a multi-colored look to my leaves, so I stamped them in Emerald, Pomegranate, & Goldrush, then I rolled ink onto the edges of the stamp and added another layer of color to the edges of each of the leaves. MissCarriesCreations-GratefulBlessedCard-Detail

The bow was created by adding Goldrush Ink to White Ribbon. This is a great way to make matching ribbon for a project. Make sure to “heat-set” it or let it dry a few days before using.  I cut a Stitched Circle from Goldrush Cardstock, added the sentiment, attached a few Gold Sequins and the card was complete.

I hope that this card inspired you to join the Color My Heart Dare challenge. Stop by each week for a new challenge and be inspired by all the wonderful creations.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

A Quick & Easy Father’s Day Card for Color My Heart Dare

With Father’s Day a little over a week away, you might be looking for a little inspiration for a last-minute quick and easy card to make. Well, let me help you out, my friend. I realized that this week’s Color My Heart Color Dare colors had a bit of a masculine feel, so I decided to use a few of those to create a Father’s Day card.

This card was super simple to make using some leftover Close to My Heart supplies I had on hand. (You can find the full list of supplies I used at the very bottom of this post.) As I said, my inspiration for the color pallet came from the Color My Heart Color Dare blog. I chose to use Linen, Candy Apple, New England Ivy, and Sapphire.

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” Linen Cardstock, 5¼” x 2¾” Plaid Paper (Into the Wild), (2) 5¼” x ¹/8″ Candy Apple Cardstock, (2) 5¼” x ½” Zip-Strip (Into the Wild), (3) 2¹/8″ x 1½” White Daisy Cardstock, (3) 1½” x 1³/8″ Sapphire Paper (True Love)
Quick Tips to Help You Make this Card

I added stitching over the Candy Apple Cardstock. This was to done intentionally to “mute” the color.

The Tags were created by stamping the “I ♥ You” tag topper onto each of the 2¹/8″ x 1½” White Daisy Cardstock pieces with Sapphire Ink. I then trimmed each into a “tag” shape, attached 1½” x 1³/8″ Sapphire Paper below the stamped image, and added White Foam letters to the tags. You could also spell “Pop” for a grandfather.

The two Wooden Triangles are from our bag of Wood Shapes. I wanted a “natural” element on the card and these provided the perfect accent.

I hope that this project has inspired you to try something new and that you share your creation at the Color My Heart Color Dare Blog. The Design Team always has some great projects to inspire and you could win one of the monthly prizes. Don’t forget that the For My Father stamp set is only available through June 30th. There are some great images on this stamp set that you could use for your paper-crafting projects.
I can’t wait to see what you create!

Heart & Home Easter Card for a Color Dare Challenge

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get into a creative “funk”. I have had a silly stamped door sitting on my desk for weeks, crying to be added to a project, and, today, as I started at the Inspiration Board for the Color My Heart Dare Challenge, I was determined to use it for a spring inspired card. 48411071_10213102276813559_2157067987780108288_n (1).jpgThree weeks it sat. Almost a month ago, I pulled out the Heart & Home stamp set and made this adorable little door. I used Watercolor Pencils to add shading, created a fun little Wreath, and I even added a heat embossed banner using an image from Bunny Trail.

And that, my friends was as far as I went.  I sat there, in a creative hallow, talking to myself and the dog, searching my collection of idea books, but nothing came… so it sat..and sat..and sat staring at me. After a few weeks of moving this little door from place to place, I decided it was time to do something. Then it struck me. Why not make a brick background to look like a house?! And this is what happened.

Oh, my! If my choices are mustard muck or spattered mess, I might as well call it quits. Now, I could have just conceded to the creative rut and given up on the door, but NO, this girl was born with red hair…there WILL BE A BRICK BACKGROUND and I WILL USE THIS BLASTED DOOR. So here we are…MissCarriesCreations-Heart&HomeEasterCardCD.jpgAfter multiple messes of texture paste and paint, a few tears, long talks with the dog, and lots of coffee and chocolate…we have a finished card. Hopefully, I will continue to climb out of the trench of creativelessness (is that a word?)… or… maybe I will be having more cups of coffee, long conversations with the fur baby under my desk, and buying up all the Cadbury eggs. 🤣

I hope that you are not in a creative “funk” and will join us for this week’s Spring Color My Heart Dare Challenge. It’s always fun to see how people are inspired by the design team and the colors they are given.

I can’t wait to see what you create!
