A Cactus Flower Layout | Video Collab

Our Creative Design Team has another video collab for you featuring the Operation Smile Stamp Set and Bright Paper Stack. We are entitling it Creative Ways to Help Kids Smile Bright-ly.  Our goal is to teach you ways to use both of these products as you learn how to support Operation Smile.

Please take a few minutes to subscribe to my channel so that you don’t miss out on our future video collabs.

Not only did I show you a few ways to use the Every Bit of Wonderful Stamp Set, I also gave you a few tips and tricks for using your watercolor pencils to shade those beautiful floral images.  When I first saw this stamp set, I immediately pictured cactus flowers.

I knew that I had the perfect photo for this and I started designing a layout with Cricut cut cactus and stamped watercolor flowers.

The cactus on this layout were created from images in the You Are Here collection and cut from Toffee cardstock and the Bright Paper Stack.  That lovely little six-inch stack of paper is another product our Creative Design Team is featuring in this collab.

I chose to use the pattern papers as backgrounds for my cactus.  These papers are bright, so I chose to distress them a bit with a sanding block to dull the color a little.

The flower images were shaded using watercolor pencils. These are such sweet, simple little flowers are so much fun to color.  This stamp set is our current Operation Smile stamp and with every purchase of this stamp set, $7 USD are donated to the life saving mission of Operation Smile.

To match the cactus theme, I chose to use our Woodgrain and Mix-In Papers in the background.  I just adore those new wood-grains and I can’t wait to use them again.

I hope that these projects inspire you and encourage you to take another look at that Every Bit of Wonderful Stamp Set, and I hope that you take the time to visit each of the Creative Design Team members’ channels.

Here is a List of the Items I Used Today

Color Your World Technique Blog Hop

Welcome to the Color Your World Technique Blog Hop where we will be showing you a variety of ways to COLOR what you love as we highlight a few of our current Close to My Heart products! 79834512_10156957929042934_4413576352637124608_oIf you have come here from Valerie Kapsha’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog. This blog hop is simple, fun, and full of ideas.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melissa’s Blog.

I never saw myself as a person who would enjoy “coloring”, but it is something I have become fond of especially when using our TriBlend Markers and Watercolors. For this month’s Technique Blog Hop, I chose to feature these two wonderful items on my Shaded Seashell card that I created for my husband.

I knew that I wanted to keep this card simple and easy to re-create, so I began designing a blue background on a piece of watercolor paper.  I swished paint onto the paper using a Flat Waterbrush, quickly dried it with my heat tool, then stamped some random “sand” along the base with Almond Ink.  I used that same “sand” image to create white sea foam.

After stamping the sentiment with Intense Black Ink, I adhered the watercolor paper to a card base, then framed it with a Stitched Glacier Rectangle. Now the fun can begin! After stamping the seashell images with Intense Black, I pulled out a my TriBlend Markers and a few Shimmer Brushes. I was delighted by the fact that each marker had ALL THREE shades I needed to create shadows and dimension – no extra thought needed

Once the sea shell images were shaded, I used a Wisteria Shimmer Brush to add a little color, applied a touch of Gold Shimmer to the Sand Dollar, and drew a few little highlights with a White Gel Pen.  The shells were attached to the card with Foam Tape and a few Rose Gold Sequins added. How simple is that?

Those TriBlends are some of my favorites to shade images with.  Each one comes with all three colors needed to shade and highlight your design.  Members of my VIP Group were able to watch a video showing how these NEW Markers work as they watched me use them to shade my Warm Wishes Card. To me, these are one of the better alcohol markers for crafters, like you and me, who wish create beautifully shaded images without breaking the bank.

Now ‘Hop” on over to Maz Wood’s blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun ideas for Coloring Your World.

Christmas Gift Giving Ideas

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving – then Black Friday – then Cyber Monday. All whole week of events leading up to the Holiday Hustle.  Are you starting to panic or are you one of those who have it all together this holiday season? Yeah, me neither. Many of us are pinching pennies this year, so let me first show you a few items under $5.00. These are some of my favorite products that can be given to almost anyone on your list – yes, even those hard-to-shop-for types.

  • MissCarriesCreations-Under5GiftsMonogram Stamps–  great for those who make  stationary, have planners or journals, work in an office, or just like pretty things
  • Journaling Pens – these come in two colors, three different sizes, and are some of the best writing instruments I’ve used. See my video
  • Complements – stickers, tags, and labels
  • Stickles – most crafty types are fans of anything that resembles glitter. These are great for kids to use, too.

Waterbrushes are great for those who travel and mom’s who don’t want a cup of inky water spilled on their table. Those moms would also adore you for getting their little artist an All Purpose Mat which can take just about any amount of messiness. (see video) Of course those who love to color would adore the new TriBlend Markers – three colors in one pen – and all the new Shimmer Brush colors. (see my Shimmer Brush video)
