Creating a St. Paddy’s Day Top Hat

For the Heart2Heart Vintage Vibes Challenge

This week, at the Heart2Heart challenge blog, we are playing with some old world, vintage products, like our Yesterday & Today papers, to create some fun paper craft designs. Before I show you my St. Paddy’s Day Top Hat Treat, I want to remind you how to join the challenge. All you need to is stop by the Heart2Heart blog and link your creation before March 31st.

Saint Patrick’s Day is one of my favorite holidays, so I try my best to make as many crafty creations as possible before the day comes.  This week, I decided that I wanted to use some of our Yesterday & Today papers to create an adorable top hat to fill with treats and place on my table. What do you think?

This top hat was created using a few images in Cricut® Design Space that were cut from some Yesterday & Today papers, Kraft paper, and Green cardstock. I even added some sweet little stamped images and Julep gems for sparkle.

After assembling the top hat, I filled it up with some candy nuggets, covered in some of my  leftover green paper scraps, and added a few little dancing green clovers.

How many of you would love to have this Cricut Design Space Design and learn how to assemble the project?  🙋🏻‍♀️ With all the goings on in the world this week and so many of you stuck at home, I have decided to add a little fun in your day and post a few video tutorials in my VIP Group – one of them being this whimsical Saint Paddy’s Day Treat.  (This group is designed for my VIPs, customers, and team members. You must agree to all the rules in order to join.)

I hope that this project has inspired you to create something with a little Vintage Vibe and share it with us at the Heart2Heart Challenge Blog.  Make sure to share your project before March 31st so that we are able to see your wonderful creation.

A Valentine Coffee Treat Holder for the Video Collab Hop

Welcome to the February Creative Design Team Video Colab Hop! 80755930_10158118631278169_8967992594239848448_oThis month, our team has created a variety of Treat Holder projects you can make using your Close to My Heart products. When you have finished watching my video tutorial, you can click on the link in the comments to “hop” to the next video on the list.  If you get lost along the way, a complete list of the Creative Design Team & their creations can be found here, on my blog

Coffee is one of my favorite treats, second to chocolate, so, for this month’s Creative Design Team hop, I designed a Treat Holder for both of these indulgences to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  This adorable Valentine Coffee Treat Holder can be filled with any of your favorite sweets & treats to give for any occasion.

This entire creation was inspired by a photo I found in an old craft book. I redesigned the project in Cricut® Design Space using images from our Art Philosophy Collection, then used the images to decorate a reusable coffee mug that I purchased from Michaels.  I have included links to all the products I used at the very bottom of this post.

In my process video, I will show you how I put together my design for this Valentine Coffee Treat Holder using features like Contour and Print-then-Cut in Design Space®. You will also have an opportunity to see how I use the Oh My Heart papers to make this a truly whimsical Valentine craft you can create and give.

This little Valentine Coffee Treat Holder was fun to create and will be even more enjoyable to give away on Valentine’s Day.  Since this one is a bit on the “girly” side, I am working on a few more treat holders for my boys using the Spruced Up collection. I can’t wait to show them to you.  If you wish to make a few treats of your own, you can view the video tutorial I createdand see how easy these Valentine Coffee Treat Holders are to make.

Make sure to stop by my YouTube channel to view all of the other Creative Design Team creations.  Katy Donaldson Taylor, from Scrapin Katy, is next on the list with an adorable Treat Holder designed just for you.

Have you ever envisioned a crafty project in your head that turned out to be a complete disaster in reality? That is exactly what happened to me this week. Not only did I realize that I miss having my boys around with their engineering skills, I made something that was much bigger than I could handle. Unfortunately, my stubbornness got the best of me I was determined to finish this Valentine Hot Air Balloon.

Honestly, this is not an original idea. Many people have created these by hand or, like I did, in Cricut® Design Space (and they are completely insane). It took me a few hours to figure out the images I needed to use and only a few minutes to pick out which papers in the Oh My Heart collection I wanted to create with, but it was the assembly that took it’s toll.

Not only did I make it soooo much bigger than I envisioned, the engineering of the design was not something I thought through. (That’s where my boys would have stopped me.) All the parts an pieces went together easily.  That cute little Almond colored basket was fun to shade with stencils and decorate with a bow & Oh My Heart stickers.  I had a blast designing the Balloon, adding Red Shimmer Trim and making the Valentine motif with the adorable Glacier striped paper.

BUT when I came time to put it together….
I just about lost my christian witness. Oh, my goodness.

All I am going to say is that the photos are taken and the project is done for the blog hop. My dear sweet husband is planning on helping me figure out a way to get this thing to quit falling over before I post my video next week.  (He is amazing❣)

Now ‘Hop” on over to Melissa Robinson’s blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun ideas. These Oh My Heart products are only available while supplies last, so be sure to contact your CTMH Consultant, or visit my website to order these adorable papers & stickers.
