Last Minute Easter Treats

We all have the best intentions to create something for our guests each holiday, but there are times when the chaos of life prevents us from doing so. Today, I am going to show you how to make a quick, easy, last minute Easter Ghirardelli Treat using our sweet Zoe papers.  These papers are only available during the month of April and are perfect for creating spring projects.

When I plan quick and easy projects, I plan them like I plan our family meals – Less than ten ingredients, under thirty minutes, minimal tools required, and everyone asks for more. These little Easter Ghirardelli Treats fit that to a t. Below you will find a simple set of instructions to create your own and be able to view the complete list of supplies I used on this project at the very bottom of this post.

Paper Needed: 8″ x 2¼” Canary Cardstock, 2″ x 2¼” Zoe Paper, 2″ x 1¾” Zoe Paper,
2″ x ¼” Zoe Paper, White Daisy cardstock scraps

Assembly Instructions:
1. Score the 8″ x 2¼” Canary Cardstock along the long edge at 2″, 2¼”, and 5½”.
2. Using a Bone Folder, fold at each of the score lines to create a “matchbook”.
3. Using a Large Scallop Decorative Border Thin Cut, create a curved edge on the “flap” of the Canary cardstock Matchbook and the 2″ x 2¼” Zoe Paper.
4. Adhere each of the Zoe papers onto the Canary cardstock Matchbook.
5. Using a 2¼” Stitched Oval Thin Cut, cut out an oval from White Daisy cardstock.
6. Stamp the “Some Bunny Loves You” sentiment onto the center of the oval using Carolina Ink. (If you would like, you can create a mask for the image to prevent the scallops from appearing on the oval. Here is a great tutorial for masking.)

7. Using a Mint Shimmer Brush, brush color along the edge of the oval, then adhere it to the Flap using 3D Foam Tape.
8. Using the RockNRoll method, apply Toffee & Espresso Ink onto the Bunny image and stamp onto White Daisy cardstock.
9. Cut out the Bunny image and adhere to the Canary cardstock Matchbook using 3D Foam Tape. (You will apply tape only to the bottom portion of the Bunny.  The top of the Bunny is what will hold the flap closed without adhesive.)

How easy was that!?Simple, fun, and done. Now all you have to do is add the Ghirardelli squares that you have left to the inside of the Easter Ghirardelli Treat holder and “Wow” your guests.  These would also make adorable treats for a Mother’s Day Tea or Spring Wedding favors.  Your imagination is your only limit.

Don’t forget that the Zoe papers are only available, while supplies last, through April 30th. You can get a full pack FREE along with a $50 product voucher when you Join our team in April. You will also receive the NEW Seasonal Expressions 2 catalog, unreleased products, and have the ability to order from the New Catalog as soon as you join.  What a great reward!

I can’t wait to see what you create!

Thin Cuts Blog Hop

Welcome to the Thin Cuts Blog Hop where we will be featuring some delightful projects created using our Thin Cuts metal dies. MissCarriesCreations-ThinCutsBlogHopIf you have come here from Michelle Loncar’s blog, you are on the right path!  When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next site. This blog hop is simple, fun, and full of ideas from some very talented Close to My Heart consultants. If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog.

Close to My Heart has created quite a few collections of metal dies, called Thin Cuts, that can be used for a variety of paper crafting projects. For this week’s blog hop, I am going to show you how I used some of our current Thin Cuts dies to create this adorable ” I am Blessed” card from the I Heart Us paper collection.

misscarriescreations-thincutsbh-blessedcard.jpgMany of you have expressed your fear of using this multicolored rainbow pattern from the I Heart Us paper packet.  It can feel a bit overwhelming, so, as I explain my use of Thin Cuts today, I am also going to show you how I “tamed” this list of colors.  I began with the base and quieted the pattern by adding a layer of Opaque Texture Paste then attached White Daisy Stitched Rectangle Frame with Thin Foam Tape. By doing this, I have muted the colors and kept the focus on the sentiment.

The “I am Blessed” statement was cut from the I Heart Us Cut-Apart paper using a stitched Oval, then layered it atop a Bluebird Oval Thin Cut. Why an oval, you ask? My stripes are going horizontally and that horizontal oval not compete with the stripes.

I have narrowed down my color choices from the rainbow pattern by choosing to match the Bluebird and Pink from the sentiment.  This prevents me from competing with the multiple colors available in the pattern. After adding some complementing images from the I Heart Us Cut-Apart paper, I decided to add a sweet blue Butterfly Friendship image that was cut from matching Thin Cuts. (love these)

By choosing to mute the colors, complement the stripes in the pattern, and choosing only a few colors from the palette, you can also quiet this brilliant paper pattern and use it to make some delightful projects.

Now ‘Hop” on over to Katy Taylor’s blog to see her fabulous artwork! She never disappoints. Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun ideas. Remember, all our Thin Cuts metal dies are only available while supplies last.  Contact your CTMH Consultant, or visit my website to see all of the dies we have available for you to use.

I can’t wait to see what you create!
