Highlight the Details – CTMH Technique Blog Hop

Welcome to the Highlight the Details Technique Blog Hop where we will be Highlight the Details Blog hop.jpgfeaturing a various techniques that highlight the details of Close to My Heart products.   If you have come here from Darlys Reckerr’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog. This blog hop is simple, fun, and full of ideas.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melissa’s Blog.

For this week’s Blog Hop I decided that I would feature our Love So Sweet stamp set and show you how I used a masking technique to “highlight” those delightful butterflies. This double easel card was a simple one to make, but in it’s simplicity it truly calls attention to those stamped images. MissCarriesCreations-LittleThingsCardSMBefore I begin to explain my Masking Technique, let me first list the measurements for the card. You will find the complete list of supplies I used on this project at the very bottom of this post.

Now that you have the pieces for the card, let me show you how I created the background.  I began by stamping the Butterfly image with Intense Black Ink onto the 5¼” x 4″ White Daisy cardstock.  Our Intense Black Ink is the best to use for Watercolors and Alcohol Markers because it is waterproof, non-smearing, fast-drying AND acid-free

After stamping the images, I stamped a single Butterfly onto a stack of five Full-Adhesive Sticky Notes then cut out the stack to create five masks. These masks were placed onto each of the stamped images on my cardstock. MissCarriesCreations-LittleThingsCardButterfliesMaskedI then used Fern Ink to stamp the Leaf images randomly onto the cardstock overlapping the butterflies and making sure that some went off the edge. Before removing the masks, I stamped a few Sugarplum flowers between the leaves and “behind” the butterflies. MissCarriesCreations-LittleThingsCardLeavesStampedAfter removing the masks and painting the butterflies, the rest of the card was simple. I added the remaining paper layers, stamped the sentiment using our Wordfetti stamp set, and added some Sugarplum Flowers and another Sapphire butterfly.

To “highlight” the flowers, I added a few strokes from the Sugarplum Shimmer Brush to the centers. I feel that this added some dimension to the images. This card was so simple to make that I decided to create a short “How To” video for my Create with Miss. Carrie’s Creations VIP Facebook Group. I will be posting it later this week for each of you to view. MissCarriesCreations-LittleThingsCardHeader.jpgNow ‘Hop” on over to Terry Metzger’s blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun ideas. Remember, the Love So Sweet stamp set is only available, while supplies last, until April 30th. Contact your CTMH Consultant, or visit the Promotions tab of my website to order yours.

Feeling So Blessed

Today, I am celebrating five years as a consultant with Close to my Heart, and “blessed” doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel. As I celebrate today’s milestone, I want to bless each of you. I will posting a few personal specials in my VIP group this weekend as my way of saying “thank you” for blessing me these past five years.

Not only have I been blessed by a wonderful company, but I have been blessed by each of you. Through my up’s and downs, crazy creations, and sarcastic humor, each of you continue to follow my weekly adventures, and I am grateful for that. MissCarriesCreations-SoBlessedCardDetail.jpg

I am grateful for a group of people who enjoy creating as much as I do. Grateful for those you don’t look at me oddly or give me that “your weird” look I often received on the playground as a kid. This business is truly a blessing to me and my family, and I thank God each day for leading me to Close to My Heart, each of you, and a group of creative friends.

Like I said earlier, I want to bless each of you as we celebrate my years with Close to My Heart.  I will be posting a few personal specials in my VIP Group this weekend, so make sure to “Join” the group and see what you could win, save, or share with your friends.

I would also like you to consider joining me as a consultant.  This company is different than any you have ever been a part of, full of wonderful creative people, and you would be a wonderful additional to our team.

As always, I can’t wait to see what you create!

It’s So Sad to Say Good-bye

Spring is coming, plants are budding, and our Seasonal Expressions is retiring. I am eager for a new season, new catalog, and new products, BUT before we get too excited, I wanted to remind you of a few important things you might want to snag (like free project guides) before they disappear at the end of April.

As the end of April nears, most of these items will start to disappear off the shelves.  If you have had any of these on your wish list, make sure to you order sooner then later.

♥ Paper Packs, Complements, & Coordinating Pocket Cards

I have enjoyed the patterns from all FIVE papers packs this season. The boyish prints in Something Fierce – the vivid colors of I Heart Us – and even the country prints in So Much Happy. My utmost favorite was the Feels Like Home collection.  The farmhouse images, the soft prints, and the french country patterns made my heart sing.

Not only do we have gorgeous papers, we also get matching Stickers, Die Cuts, and Pocket Cards. Each of these complements our papers so well and can be used on just about any project.

Scrapbooking & Card Making Kits

How many of you love kits? I know that when my creative brain needs a rest, kits are my best friend. This season, Close to My Heart “wowed” us with not only Basic Scrapbooking kits, but Deluxe Kits as well.

For those who love making cards, our Cardmaking Kits are a great deal. With each kit you get all the supplies to make TWELVE cards. Which one is your favorite?

Free Workshop & Project Guides

Close to My Heart creates project guides for cards, scrapbook layouts, and home decor items in each catalog.  These are FREE to download and print for future project ideas. I take advantage of these guides each season, and often make pages like my “This Happened” layout where I used the So Much Happy guide for a layout using Something Fierce papers.  You can download each of the guides by going to the Kits section of my website, selecting each kit, and click “Download Guide”.

I also like to download the recipes for all the projects in the current catalog.  YES, THERE ARE RECIPES! You can do this by going to the Catalog on my website, then scrolling down to “Recipes”.

So….are you excited about a new catalog arriving soon? I have already been thumbing through it and am IN LOVE! As a Consultant, I get a sneak peek of everything AND I GET TO ORDER IT one month ahead of time.  This is just one of perks of being a consultant.  (FYI: If you join this month, you get new catalogs, new papers, and some additional freebies.)

Don’t forget that all the items in the catalog will be gone April 30th and many will begin to disappear from my website throughout the month as people snag those last minute items.  I suggest that you purchase what is on your wishlist sooner than later.  I would hate for you to miss out.

I can’t wait to see what you create!
