A Christmas Tag with Fall Leaves

Today, I am using up a few of my fall crafting supplies to create a Christmas Tag for the TGIF Project Challenge. The theme this week is “Tag You”re It” and I couldn’t resist adding my little project to the challenge.  It may seem odd to use “fall” papers and dies for the holidays, but this little tag wouldn’t be what is is without them. This is a super simple project for you to make. Below, you will find some step-by-step instructions accompanied by a process video showing you how to create some Gold Leaf Christmas Tags of your own.

MissCarriesCreations-GoldLeafChristmasTag-Cutting.jpg

You will begin by cutting out a Charcoal paper Tag Shape, a Gold Foil Leaf, and a Candy Apple Circle.  (If you were lucky enough to get some of the Fancy Tag Thin Cuts last year, you can use the large 4″ stitched tag, like I did. If you don’t have this die, you can use another one you might own or cut a tag in Design Space™.)   After cutting all of your pieces, you will need to heat emboss the “December 25th” sentiment.

Stamp the image using White Daisy Pigment Ink, sprinkle the image with White Embossing Powder, and heat with a heat tool.

I used my fingers to fold up each one of the leaves slightly, then attached the gold foil leaves to the tag with Liquid Glass.

Layer the Candy Apple circle with the sentiment onto the corner of the tag using a foam dot for dimension. I love how that Candy Apple pops off the Charcoal paper.  Add some Gold Gems and a Bow for embellishment and the tag is complete.misscarriescreations-goldleafchristmastagdetail.jpg

Like I said, this was a very simple project to make and can be altered using any paper or cardstock of your choice. If you would like to watch me create this tag, you can view the process video below.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you were inspired by today’s creation and learned something new. Please feel free to comment below if you have any questions.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

Sail Away with the Making Waves Heart2Heart Challenge

One of my goals this year was to step outside my comfort zone (in my teal crafting chair), and, this month, I did just that by joining the Heart2Heart Design Team.  I am thrilled to join such a talented group of ladies and hope that each creation challenges you to try something new.  So……are you ready for another challenge? This month, we are Making Waves at Heart2Heart.

To me, making waves meant being able to use the beautiful shades of our Seaside papers to create this multi-layered card that reflects the sea. It brought back memories of a trip my husband surprised me with to the San Francisco Bay many years ago. The old world eccentricity of the “non-tourist” hidden treasures is something I’ll never forget. MissCarriesCreations-SailAwayThankYouCard-H2HI started with a Tag created using our Fancy Tag Thin cuts, and added a layer of Clear Mat Texture Paste shaded in Almond. After heat embossing the boat image, I placed it onto another tag, then adhered the tags onto a Vellum Doily.

The rest of the card included adding a few stickers, a stamped sentiment, and some Gold Embellishing Thread & Gems. I hope that this card has inspires you to join the Heart2Heart challenge this month.  Don’t forget to stop by the blog for even more inspiration and link up your Make Waves creations before July 31st.

Bear Hugs ~ July SOTM Blog Hop

Welcome to the Bear Hugs Stamp of the Month Blog Hop where we will be featuring the July Bear Hugs stamp set. 61139206_10156480557497686_1649829919171018752_nIf you have come here from Gina Brandstetter’s blog, you are on the right path!  When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog. This blog hop is simple, fun, and full of artwork created by some very talented consultants.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog.

For this project, I decided to use our Fancy Tags Thin Cuts along with our True Love papers to create a sweet and simple card that I plan on sending to a friend who is currently going through a rough patch. MissCarriesCreations-BearHugCardUnfortunately, I am going to have to keep this blog post short due to the fact that my laptop keyboard is currently on the fritz. You can see here that I used the Circle Tag thin cut to create a window for the two bear images. I used another Tag Thin Cut for the sentiment.

The flower border and individual flowers were cut from Sugarplum cardstock using the Decorative Borders Thin Cuts. I added some Gold Embellishing Thread, Gold Glitter Gems, a Gold Arrow Clip, and Bitty Sparkles too finish it off.

Now ‘Hop” on over to Darlys Recker’s blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun ideas. Remember, the Bear Hug stamp set is only available until July 31st.  Contact your CTMH Consultant, or visit the Promotions tab of my website to see how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00.
