Wild About You Valentine

As we continue through a week of “punny” Valentines, I have been adding my creations to a few weekly challenge blogs. Today, I decided to enter a new challenge at Dragonfly Journeys.  If you have been reading my postings, you also know that I have three boys who I still send Valentine’s to, and I have be taking advantage of the dinosaur images and play on words to create an ultra-cheesy Valentine for each one them.  Here is the final one in my collection.

After creating the other cards, I was left with a few more dinosaur images in my Something Fierce collection as well as this “Wild About You” sticker which was the perfect sentiment for a Valentine card. As I was creating my card, I began to recall the days when decorated paper bags were once stuffed with silly valentines just like this.

Once I had chosen I sentiment, I decided to layer it atop this adorable brontosaurus die cut.  If you look at the set of compliments above, you can see that he originally held a ball. As many of you know, scissors can be a wonderful tool to adjust an image an make it your own. Snip & Stick and your brontosaurus is now holding a heart.

After deciding on the background, I realized that the two images weren’t enough for this card, so I cut out the Palm Tree and Pineapple and layered them with a few more hearts onto the front of my card. ♥ Super simple, Super cute, and ready to send off to my son.

I hope that you have enjoyed this collection of punny Valentines using our Something Fierce collection and that you give one of them a try.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

T-Rex Valentine Hugs

Creating cards for boys can be a challenge, especially ones who are 6.5’+ bearded bears who find your “mom feelings” a bit too mushy for their taste. The other challenge, when creating these Valentines, is to make sure they aren’t too frilly and have a slight sense of “dad humor” added.  Yesterday, I posted my “I Dig You” Valentine and, today, I am showing you another way to use the Something Fierce collection and add a little “pun” to your cheesy Valentine collection.

trexhugvalentine-misscarriescreationsDid you giggle a little? To tell you the truth, I rolled my eyes once I was finished, and my husband just laughed at the irony of it all, so I knew it was a perfect card for one of my sons. When I first began this project, I knew that I wanted to use the T-Rex Image , but I couldn’t quite figure out how to use a Raspberry colored dinosaur for a “boy” card.

Out came the Love of Color Book and I was able to find some other colors that would tone down the pink and make this appear more masculine (as masculine as you can get for a Valentine) I realized at this point that it would be a perfect entry for the Heart2Heart Love of Color and the Sunday Stamps Pretty in Pink Challenges.

After deciding on the color palette and the images, I thumbed through  my stamp collection to find a sentiment that would fit this monstrous beast. Wouldn’t you know it, the A Piece of My Heart stamp set had the perfect sentiment to make this silly card. 🙄

Please take the time to stop by the Heart2Heart blog and see the other creations for this challenge and make sure you stop by tomorrow for one more cheesy dinosaur valentine.

I Dig You Valentine Card ~ A Heart2Heart Challenge

For those of you who find Valentine’s Day to be “punny” and ultra-cheesy, this week’s project has been designed just for you.  It’s a simple card that I created for the Heart2Heart Stamped Background Challenge  using some papers and complements from the Something Fierce collection and has been titled “I Dig You Valentine” (get it?🙄)

I know, ultra-cheesy, but it works when you are playing with dinosaurs.  If you would like to recreate this super-punny card for the one you “dig”, here are a few tips for you as well as list of the supplies I used to make mine.

The card base was created with a piece of Black cardstock, followed by a piece of Something Fierce paper, then a Stitched Rectangle cut from Candy Apple Cardstock.
I felt the White Daisy cardstock behind the dinosaurs was a bit bland, so I used Mink Ink and stamped a repeated border design using our Border Melody stamp set to create a background. I then splattered it with a Black Shimmer Brush for added dimension.
Originally both dinosaur stickers were a shade of pink, so I used my Red Shimmer Brush to add some shading. He also held a yellow balloon, which I trimmed off, and added a heart in it’s place – again shaded with a Red Shimmer Brush.
The borders across the base of the card were created with a Border Melody stamp, some Silver Embellishing Thread, and leftover Gingham Ribbon from the Short Story By Stacy kit.
To create the sentiment, I cut out one of the footprints from the “I dig dinosaurs” icons on the Something Fierce cut-apart page, then stamped the “U” using Pewter Ink with the Modern Typewriter Alphabet stamp set. (one of my favorites that is 35% off this month). The dots were created using a White Gel Pen.

To be honest, I wasn’t competently confident about posting this silly little card with all it’s puns and childlike qualities, but my dear hubby convinced me that there is someone who might “dig it” (gotta lve him 🙄). Make sure to take advantage of the 35% Alphabet Stamp sale and treat yourself to the Modern Typewriter Alphabet stamp set and many others before January 31st.  While you are on my website, don’t forget to grab your FREE Seasonal Expressions idea book.Heart2Heart Darling 2018 sept
