It’s Time to Rise Strong

It’s not about you or me. It’s not about us or them. It’s up pulling one another up out of the murkiness, and watching them rise through life’s challenges. We have all heard “life is not a race”, but at times I feel like we treat life more like a Black Friday Sale as we mow over one another to try to get the biggest and the best. We care more about what we are getting and less about what we are doing. We need to rise strong.

MissCarriesCreations-RiseStrongCard

When Monica presented this stamp set to us at the NA Convention, she challenged each of us to rethink and consider the “giving” instead of the “getting”. What can we do to help others Rise Strong?

We need to be the light in the murky waters.  A simple card, gift, phone call, text, encouraging verse – be the one who rises up out of the crowd and encourages others. I encourage you to take a few minutes today and be the one who gives more, shares more, and does more.

Sharing the Joy while Making Flowers

As many of you know, the Share the Joy special is ending on July 31stand, if you are like me, you might have a pile of circles leftover after using this Thin Cut.  This die appears to be created for card making, and I did use it for quite a few cards like my Fourth of July card, BUT, I also found a way to create a scrapbook border using the same die.

I have honestly enjoyed playing with the Share the Joy collection, but amongst all of the projects lies a “little” pile of circles crying out to be used. So, what do I do? I use them to make flowers.MissCarriesCreations_MamaBearCardSM.jpg

Yes, flowers. These adorable folded gems seemed like the perfect solution for using up my ever-growing pile of circles. They are simple to make and can be layered in a variety of ways to create simple, origami-isk flowers. Here is how it is done:

Fold each circle, as shown, then place them side-by-side in a half-circle or full circle shape. Add a brad, button, or wooden shape in the middle and you have a flower. I kept my card super-simple. I plan on sending it to a new mommy friend who is currently enjoying the “joys” of pregnancy. MissCarriesCreations_MamaBearCardDetail

After creating the flowers, I assembled them onto some True Love paper, added some printed text from the Into the Wild Collection, then a bit of Burlap Ribbon and gems.  I even found a sentiment to used from the Bear Hug stamp of the month. (FYI: This stamp set will also be gone on July 31st.)

I hope that this card has helped you to find a way to use up your pile of circles (or chads as some like to call them) and that it inspires you to create something new.   Don’t forget, the Share the Joy Thin Cuts & Stamp sets will retire July 31st, as well as the Bear Hugs stamp set. If they are one your wish list, make sure you order them before they disappear.
