Creating Quick Christmas Cards with Border Stickers

November Coffee & Cards Workshop

Lately, I am all about simplifying and letting go of the desire for perfection. I love creating cards with lots of layers and images and bling, but sometimes we have to get back to the basics and create something simple. My November Coffee and Cards Workshop has been designed with this in mind – a collection of quick, easy cards that are put together without fuss or much effort.

Sign Up for the November Coffee & Cards Workshop

At my November Coffee & Cards workshop you will be using the Holly Jolly Complements border stickers to adorn your cards. Each kit will come pre-cut with a full sheet of these stickers allowing you to go home and create even more cards for the holidays. You will also have the opportunity to use various images from our adorable Whimsical Holiday stamp set.

Since this workshop will leave you with a few left over stickers, I have multiple options for workshop kits this month.  You can come, enjoy a drink of your choice, and create the cards as shown, then take the remaining stickers home to create more cards OR you can add onto the kit with another set of pre-cut kits & a stamp set. You also have the option to purchase the cutting guide and create these cards using your own supplies.MissCarriesCreations-ChristmasCardWorkshopGuide.jpg

Purchase the Holly Jolly Cardmaking Workshop Guide

This workshop guide creates TEN cards using the Holly Jolly papers, Complements, Dots, and Whimsical Holiday stamp set. There will be a few left over stickers once you are finished allowing to to create cards like this one.  I hope that you are able to join me for this workshop and that these cards have inspired you to get back to the basics and create something new.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

A Quick Christmas Card for a Sketch Challenge

Can you believe that there are only NINE weeks left until Christmas? Sketch 339As the holidays draw closer, I start to feel the days going by quickly and tend to not have enough hours to get everything ready for Christmas. Can you relate?  Each year, we sent out over 100 Christmas cards and, this time of year, I start to scour the internet for quick, simple card sketches like this one from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  Any uncomplicated card design that can be replicated quickly is a winner in my book.

This week, I decided to join the sketch challenge and create a simple card using the Holly Jolly Border stickers and Build a Plaid stamp set.   As you can see, instead of adding a scallop, I chose to create a variety of layers at the base of the card. Even though the Build a Plaid stamp set is intended for creating plaid designs, I chose to use it as a fill-in for one of my layers. Once the base of card was complete, I stamped the “December 25th” image onto black cardstock with VersaMark™ Ink, heat embossed it in white, then layered it atop a Candy Apple stitched circle. I love the look of white embossing powder on black cardstock.

I added a stamped Holly embellishment, a sentiment, and a few Holly Jolly Dots to complete the card. This card was so simple to create and could be made using a array of border stickers, paper scraps, or stamped images.

I hope that this card has inspired you to create something new this year for Christmas and to join the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I will be posting more cards I created using the Holly Jolly border stickers this week. In fact, I have created an entire workshop using them and I can’t wait to share them with you.

I can’t wait to see what you create!
