Christmas Gift Giving Ideas

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving – then Black Friday – then Cyber Monday. All whole week of events leading up to the Holiday Hustle.  Are you starting to panic or are you one of those who have it all together this holiday season? Yeah, me neither. For those of you, like me, who need a few gift giving ideas on a budget, let me help you out.

Many of us are pinching pennies this year, so let me first show you a few items under $5.00. These are some of my favorite products that can be given to almost anyone on your list – yes, even those hard-to-shop-for types.

  • MissCarriesCreations-Under5GiftsMonogram Stamps–  great for those who make  stationary, have planners or journals, work in an office, or just like pretty things
  • Journaling Pens – these come in two colors, three different sizes, and are some of the best writing instruments I’ve used. See my video
  • Complements – stickers, tags, and labels
  • Stickles – most crafty types are fans of anything that resembles glitter. These are great for kids to use, too.

So, what about those non-crafty types on your list.  Guess what?! I have some ideas for those people, too.

Simple Photo Journals to Record ALL your Memories🎄

How many times have you looked at old photos wishing you had written down the story associated with them? Everyone feels this way, and everyone should have a simple photo journal to record those memories. SEE MY VIDEO HERE

Budget Friendly Supplies for Artists of All Ages🎄

Art supplies can be found anywhere, but these are some that I personally enjoy. Not only are they budget friendly, but the makers in your family will love finding them under the tree.

MissCarriesCreations-ArtistGifts

Waterbrushes are great for those who travel and mom’s who don’t want a cup of inky water spilled on their table. Those moms would also adore you for getting their little artist an All Purpose Mat which can take just about any amount of messiness. (see video) Of course those who love to color would adore the new TriBlend Markers – three colors in one pen – and all the new Shimmer Brush colors. (see my Shimmer Brush video)

These are just a FEW of the many items available on my website. I will be showing more in the coming week. If you are a member of my VIP Group, you will have a chance to see some last minute gift ideas and a few gifts you can create.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving & I can’t wait to see what you create!

Create Some Faux Leather Ornaments for Your Tree

We are in the midst of a renovating and redecorating our home, which means that I get to make some new home decor items for Christmas. If you have been following me online, you know that I can’t resist using my Cricut™ whenever possible, and today is no exception.  To match our new decor, I have created these simple Faux Leather Ornaments using the Free SVGS in the Holiday Cheer Bundle.

When you purchase any of the Holiday Cheer kits, your kit includes free SvG images which are designed to help you recreate more tags and ornaments. These can be used on cards, scrapbook pages, or, in my case, home decor items. Unfortunately, the SvGs and kits are only available through November 30th, so you will want to order them soon if you plan on creating these ornaments.

To learn how find your SvG images & upload them, you can view a tutorial here.

Once I uploaded and resized the SVG ornaments in Design Space™, I added some Close to My Heart images that would be cut from Iron-On Vinyl for my ornaments. The Deer & Wreath images are from the Flower Market Collection and the Tree is from our Digital Art Bundle

Each of the Ornaments was cut from Faux Leather on my Air 2. When using Faux Leather, you will need to make sure to place the shiny side down and mirror your images before cutting. MissCarriesCreations-HolidayCheerSvGOrnaments-CutLeather.jpg

You will do the same with your HTV – shiny side down & mirror the images. After the Iron-On Vinyl (HTV) has been cut, you will remove the excess vinyl from the clear backing sheet, leaving only the cut image on the liner – this is known as weeding. MissCarriesCreations-HolidayCheerSvGOrnaments-weedvinyl.jpgTo apply my HTV onto the ornaments, I am using a Cricut EasyPress Mini™.  This little gem is perfect for small projects like this.  To determine the heat setting I used the Interactive Heat Guide which told me the temperature and heat time, then I applied my vinyl to the faux leather ornaments. misscarriescreations-holidaycheersvgornaments-heat.jpg

The final step was to add a backing and some bows for embellishment. Since many of you are new to Iron-On Vinyl and using Design Space™, I have created a process video for you, to show you how I created each of the ornaments.

I hope that this project has inspired you and encouraged you use your Cricut™ this week.  Please feel free to comment below if you have any questions or would like to suggest more Cricut™ projects.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

New Product Blog Hop – Get Ready for the Holidays

Welcome to the New Product Blog Hop where we will be featuring products from our NEW Holiday Expressions catalog. 72287051_10156830523492686_7861599535502458880_nIf you have come here from Lauren Moore’s blog, you are on the right path!  When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog. This blog hop is simple, fun, and full of artwork created by some very talented consultants.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog.

Making treat boxes is something I enjoy doing for our holiday table, and, this year, I have created some little Holiday Treasures using quite a few of the products from our Holiday Expressions catalog. MissCarriesCreations-HolidayTreasuresYT2

The original pinterest box design was revamped to hold more chocolate and accommodate die cuts from our new Buttoned Up Thin Cuts. Aren’t they just the cutest?

After reworking the original design, I made two prototypes by hand, then went into Design Space™ to devise a pattern I could cut out in multiples with less work. I cut out all my boxes and die cuts, covered each box in Holly Jolly paper, added the sentiments, then simply assembled each one.

You can never have enough glitter on a holiday project.  I decided to accent each box by adding some Stickles and shimmer using a Black Shimmer Brush.  All I had to do was add six Hershey’s Nuggets candies.

MissCarriesCreations-HolidayTreasuresYT

After making these Holiday Treasures boxes, I decided that I would share the design with you. I have created a process video  to show you how I made the box by hand. I hope you enjoy it.

Now ‘Hop” on over to Haley Dyer’s blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun ideas. These holiday products are only available through December 31st, while supplies last, so be sure to contact your CTMH Consultant, or visit my website to see all that we have for you this holiday season.

I can’t wait to see what you create!
