This month I have joined the 30 Days of Sketches challenge with Christy’s Beautiful life. Instead of creating a process video for each sketch, I will be grouping a week’s worth of sketches together and sharing the projects I made with each of the designs. Like a layout share, I will provide you with tips and design ideas as I show you what I created with the first six sketches in the series.
Day One
The background paper had a splattered circle design I wanted to show through so I moved the items around and added the photos and floral cuts to fit the space. The cardstock cut florals replaced the stars in this sketch. To bring in some texture, I stitched a pattern paper strip at the base of the page. I also added some glitter-paste dots around the florals.
Day Two
As much as I love that tilted square frame, I really struggle placing items at an angle so I chose to create frames with squares of pattern papers that I stitched into place. I created florals using a magnolia die and added some stickers around them. The journaling was printed onto the vellum and attached under the photo.
Day Three
In this sketch, I saw a slimline card. The vertical strips of woodgrain and polka-dots created a base while the vertical patterns added visual interest. I chose tags for my vertical pieces, but you could use some florals, paper strips, or die cuts in this space.
Day Four
In this sketch, there is a lovely diamond pattern background that I wanted to use, so I replicated it with some stitching and bats that I cut with a die. This only covers part of the page which allowed me to add some pattern paper and washi tape at the base of the page.
Day Five
The geometric design on this sketch is perfect for a card. I was able to scale down the shapes to fit a standard A2 card and add a few bitty embellishments to the design. There is quite a bit of white on this card, so I added a pattern to the background with a texture plate in the background. This is another really simple card design with some amazing layers.
Day Six
I was inspired to create a woven fall card for this project and I love how it turned out. Instead of photos, I wove pattern paper scraps together to create a statement piece on the front of the card. This weaving technique can be found on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog.
