Creating cards from leftover scrapbook supplies is an excellent way to stretch your crafting budget. Although I am not a Pocket Life memory keeper, I love incorporating their kit items in my pages. As with any scrapbook supply, I tend to have leftovers.
Creating handmade cards using leftover scrapbook supplies not only helps you use up those extra materials but also allows you to create unique cards for your loved ones. Hip Kit Club’s Pocket Life kits are perfect for this, as they come in a convenient 6×8 size. Here are some fun and easy ways to utilize your extra materials to make amazing cards.
Use the journal cards to create unique card bases. The patterns, phrases, and icons create amazing card bases. To hide the journaling lines, simply layer multiple cards on top of one another to create a dimensional card.
There is a wide range of pocket card sizes that can be used on your designs. The smaller cards create a beautiful backdrop for A2 card designs, while the longer journal cards are perfect for slimline designs.
Layer die-cut images to create embellishment clusters. Layered die cuts are an excellent method to mask journaling lines on pocket cards. Similar to the art of scrapbooking, these cuts can narrate a tale or establish a themed design.
For my two card designs, I opted for die cuts that I knew wouldn’t suit any of my upcoming scrapbook pages. Since I don’t have any plans to visit the beach in the near future, I decided to use ocean-themed die cuts on my cards instead of storing them away for “someday.”
Don’t forget about stamps. Hip Kit Pocket Life kits include a collection of clear stamps with fun phrases, icons, and images that are perfect for card designs.
The stamps come in a variety of sizes, so you can choose the perfect one for your card design. Whether you want a small image to add a little detail or a larger one to be the focal point of your card, you’ll find what you need in the kit.
Add your own personal touch. Include some stitching, gems, or bits of twine to bring the card to life. On these cards, I used the July Stitching Guide to create some simple lines of stitching with sewing thread.
Remember, the key to adding a personal touch is to have fun and be creative! Use materials and techniques that you enjoy and that reflect your style and personality.
Even if you’re not a cardmaker, you can incorporate these Pocket Life card designs in your scrapbook or pocket page albums. Personally, I find this scale perfect for my traveler’s notebooks.
In today’s video, I’ll be demonstrating additional techniques for using leftover Pocket Life Kit on cards. You’ll see just how effortless it is to put these cards together.
Using leftover scrapbook supplies to create them not only saves you money but also lets you put those extra materials to good use. The possibilities are endless when it comes to creating unique card designs using Pocket Life journal cards and leftover embellishments. Remember, the key to creating beautiful cards from your leftover supplies is to get creative and have fun.
I hope this inspired you to try something new. If you have any questions about this project or the supplies listed above, feel free to leave me a comment.
