Stepping Out of my Comfort Zone for a Scraplift Challenge

I was recently challenged to choose a Hip Kit team member to scraplift, so I decided to push my boundaries and work with a design that was completely new to me. The resulting scrapbook layout features stamps, tags, and numerous layers. I’m thrilled to share the results with you!

Sophie Delorme, the creator of the original design, has an incredible classical style of creating that I absolutely adore. Being a huge fan of her work, I couldn’t wait to try it out myself. If you would like to take a glance at the original, you can view it here on the Hip Kit blog.

Sophie often incorporates tags on her layouts in the form of labels, background layers, and embellishment anchors. The foundation of this page was built using multiple brightly colored tags with tag-shaped photos layered on top of them. I’ve selected various materials for these tags, including patterned paper, pocket life cards, and fabric. The additional textures added a lovely visual appeal.

One thing that stands out about Sophie is her ability to create beautiful embellishment clusters that are simple and sweet. With all the bright colors on this page, I chose to follow suit.

My photos needed something special, so I used black floral stickers to add a touch of elegance. These stickers created frames around my photos, without adding additional color to the page.

To add to the first day of school theme, I included a few phrases. I made sure to keep these clusters small and simple, so as not to overwhelm the page.

The titles that Sophie creates are always one of my favorite pieces. Like the rest of her pages, are elegant and sophisticated. I usually have complex titles with many phrases, but this time I decided to keep it simple and I’m delighted with how it turned out.

If you’re interested in seeing how I stepped out of my comfort zone and modified Sophie’s design in more ways, check out this brief process video.

As mentioned in the video, designing this layout presented a bit of a challenge, but it was an incredible opportunity to explore new territory. It’s always a great feeling to push yourself outside of your comfort zone and try something new. Creativity often thrives when we take risks and challenge ourselves to think differently.
