I was recently invited to guest design for Shimmerz Paint and was immediately smitten with the kit. I’ve only recently added these paints to my craft space, so I thought I would share a few tips with you to help you get the most out of them.

The June Colors Kitz contains double-sided patterned papers with succulent and floral designs, cut-apart pages, coordinating sprays and inks, title stickers, epoxy flare, and an SVG. On my page, I utilized three different types of paints starting with the Pipe Cream Spritz on the background.

Shimmerz Spritz is a soft iridescent spray with a little bit of shimmer. The pigment is quick-drying and easy to clean up. For my page, I selected a mixed media paper to spray this onto because it holds up to the wet medium. If you wish to spray directly onto pattern papers, I suggest adding a layer of gesso first.
Over the top of the spray, I layered a script pattern created with a paste. To give it this lovely color, I mixed the paste with Don’t Be Suede Coloringz.

I have mixed Shimmerz products with opaque paste, grit paste, glitter paste, acrylic paint, and chalk paint. While the color and shimmer intensity varies with each mixture, there have been no issues with the products not blending together seamlessly.
Shimmerz Coloringz is a highly pigmented spray without shimmer. During storage, the pigment in the bottle tends to settle at the bottom. Rather than shaking the bottle, which can cause pigment to clog the spray tube nozzle, rolling is a more effective way to combine the pigment.

Not only was I able to add layers of color with sprays, but I also added a pop of shimmer and pigment with Pool Me Close Shimmerz. Shimmerz is vibrant water base paint with lots of sparkles. This pigment is thick and rich which is why I often water it down to lessen the intensity of the color.
In this tutorial video, you’ll learn how to incorporate elements from the June Colors Kitz to create layers of color and texture in your project. Plus, you’ll gain some valuable design tips throughout the process.
Capturing those small, sentimental items in wooden frames was a simple way to highlight all the little wedding details. The botanicals and paints from the June Colors Kitz created a perfect backdrop to showcase these cherished memories.
