Adding layers and details to projects is something I truly enjoy. Those simple little items can create a huge impact on a scrapbook page or card. Today, I am going to share a few ways that I add details to my projects and show you how simple it is to do this with stamps and stencils.

This page records a memory of our son with his much younger cousin. I chose to use some bright spring elements and cardstock from the {Not} Just for Boys Aurora kit to create this design.

Color always plays a huge role in the creation process. In the photo, my niece is wearing a yellow shirt, so I chose yellow objects and paired them with purple as a complementary color.
The woodgrain pattern has a subtle purple wash. I wanted to add more of this color to the page, so I brought in a soft crackle mouse design with a diamond stencil. Adding small stenciled images with paste creates subtle details on a page and enhances the overall design. This not only brought in more color it also added texture and contrast.

To give this page a more masculine feel, I added blue to create a split complementary color palette. Behind the photo, I layered bits of ephemera and looped some matching twine around the larger elements. Twine, ribbon, or cording is a simple detail you can add to just about any project.
I brought in some additional details with neutral colors and stamping. The leaves and the stamped title were added to soften those brighter colors and add to the masculine feel of the page.

Stamped images allow you to personalize a project and make it unique. Behind the cardstock cut, I created a pattern paper design with tone-on-tone stamping. This pattern is unique to my page and cannot be purchased off a scrapbook paper rack.
The word adventure was stamped onto a piece of ephemera. Adding the inked design to a printed die cut, made this look like it was something that came with the kit.

Layering it with additional bits of ephemera created a lovely title and I love how it looks with the other colors on the page.
In my process video, I share how this page came together and show you these simple ways to add details to your pages.
Adding little details with stamps, stencils, color, and texture are simple ways to level up your page and create a unique design. It’s those subtle details that create beautiful pages.
