What to Do When the Kit Doesn’t Have Enough Florals

I enjoy adding floral elements to my layouts, but there are times the kit is limited or doesn’t have the number of pieces I need. When this happens, I don’t run out and buy another kit, instead, I improvise. In today’s video, I am going to share a few ways that I created more florals from a kit.

This engagement page was created using the new elements from the March Hip Kit. The vintage florals, bright colors, and watercolor-like designs are absolutely addictive. Around the photo, I added multiple floral pieces, all of which came in this kit.

I began layering the die cuts and stickers from the kit around the photo and quickly discovered that there were not enough pieces. My first step was to cut apart the larger die cuts and use them on both sides of the frame. This is an easy way to expand your floral collection.

To fill in the gaps, I cut apart a piece of pattern paper and tucked the florals within the colorful layers. Many of the printed papers in this kit have florals that could be used on your layouts.

These grey and white floral prints have a slightly pink color to them. I chose to leave these as is, but you could add color with ink or paint.

Within the PinkFresh collection, there are printed die cuts and stickers that have floral elements. I cut these apart into individual floral elements.

The collection included a wreath of florals that I cut into individual florals and tucked within my layers. There is also a small envelope with florals that I cut apart and used as one of the layers. As you can see, the cuts were not perfect, but they allowed me to bring more florals to the design.

Adding florals to a page doesn’t always mean individual flowers. You can also add elements to your design that contain floral prints.

The addition of this square die cut at the top of the page brought in more of the pink florals to the page and gave me the opportunity to create another floral cluster.

In my process video, I share a few other ways to add florals to your page and show how to use background dies on a layout.

Creating additional florals for a kit does require a little cutting and layering, but it saves you from purchasing a second kit. I hope this project inspired you to find ways to add more florals to your pages.
