This month, I have been creating with the Mintay Garage collection in the {Not} Just for Boys Club kit, and have come across a few items that I had to make changes to. Today, I am going to share a few of the simple changes I made to create elements that would match my page.

The Burnished kit is filled with vintage garage and steampunk components. The photos on this page record a memory of a victorian escape room adventure, so most of the pieces in the kit fit my design. There were, however, a few pieces that I needed to make changes to.

One of the circles had a toolbox sitting atop a suitcase. The toolbox did not fit my project, so I added another bag to look like a stack. I also used one of the printed die cuts as a journaling card. This was an easy way to add another circle to the design that matched the other elements.
At the base of the page, I wanted to add a large clock image but realized that I used all of my clocks on another layout. Instead of purchasing another kit, I just cut these images from a pattern paper.

I rarely use designer patterns like this in their entirety, so I choose to cut out the elements I will use and add them to my pages.
Many of the die cuts and patterns in the collection were used in alternate ways. At the top of the page, I added a violation sign, to match one of the memories of the event.

This parking meter may not match the victorian era theme, but it speaks to the scolding I received.
If you would like to learn more about that story, and to see how this page came together, I have a short process video for you.
By looking at items in a new way, you can easily make changes to the items you have in your collection and make them fit your design. I hope today’s project inspired you to do just that.
If you have any questions about this project or the supplies listed above, feel free to leave me a comment.
