Creating pages for boys can be a difficult task especially when those kids are twenty-something and it’s Easter. This is not the time to use fluffy bunnies, baby chicks, or bright patterns on a page. Today, I am going to share how I created a more masculine feel on a spring layout.

I don’t have anything against fluffy bunnies at Easter, but I felt like this page needed a little something different. Instead of the bright pastels, I chose a softer boho color palette with tags, sentiments, and a few florals.

The page was inspired by a Scrap the Boys challenge sketch. Very few sketches have multiple photos, so I was happy to use this one to record these Easter memories.
My focus was on our son and the memory of him dying eggs as an adult. The photos were taken in 2020 when he was stuck at home with not much to do, so he joined his sister in the age-old activity of decorating Easter eggs.

The title on this page was created to reflect the memory of that day. Even though our family hadn’t dyed eggs in many years, we realized that dying eggs does not have an age limit and we made some great memories.
Adult children are more patient and experimental with the dye, so we had some beautifully colored eggs that year. I made sure to add a photo of the eggs on the page and created florals in the same colors to complement the photos.

The florals were shaded with watercolor to give them a soft chalk-like feel. Adding them to this masculine layout give it a great spring feel, and the subtle colors kept it from becoming too childish.
If you are interested, I have a short process video for you where I share how I created these florals and altered the sketch the fit my design.
I hope that today’s project inspired you to join the Scrap the Boys challenge and gave you a few ideas for creating masculine spring pages. If you have any questions about this project or the supplies listed above, feel free to leave me a comment.
