The kit I have on my desk is filled with mechanic, automotive, vintage, and steampunk pieces. It is quite the collaboration of elements and I love it. The photo I chose was one taken at an old-timey shop and the elements in this kit are perfect for recording this memory.

The Burnished Limitless kit from {Not} Just for Boys has a coordinating essentials kit that includes chipboard, die cuts, and other items that I used for this page. The full-size chipboard sheets are filled with a variety of steampunk, mechanical, and vintage shapes that can be altered to fit your design.

I chose ones with a steampunk feel and shaded the pieces with layers of distress oxide inks. To give them an aged metal look, I added copper embossing powder on the edges.
The chipboard pieces are statement pieces on the page that I layered with bits of ephemera. In each embellishment cluster, I added vintage clocks, rusted gears, and a few florals.

I brought in some of the patterns from the dress with a strip of lace and floral tags. The floral and foliage elements were added with some lace to soften the hard lines.
Initially, I wanted to add some die-cut leaves to the page with florals, but I didn’t have anything in my collection that would match. On one of the pattern papers, I spotted the sepia-toned leaves and I knew that they would be a better fit.

The Mintay pattern paper was one that I would not use in its entirety, so I fussy cut the leaves and added them to the page. These created a nice frame around the photo and matched the florals printed in the background.
I wanted to create a timepiece theme so I selected a simple title that fit the rest of the elements. This was a leftover piece from a previous kit that was ideal for the page.

Below the title, I added a little badge for journaling. This page is being gifted to someone else, so I left this blank for them to add to the story.
If you are interested, I have a short process video showing you how to add color to the chipboard pieces and put together this layout.
Today’s project was created using the Burnish Kit and a few additional items from {Not} Just for Boys Kit club. The items in this kit have a vintage mechanic look, but I was able to use it to create a page with a vintage steampunk theme. I love how it turned out.
