One of my goals this year was to use up items that I have been collecting in my craft room, which means that I need to get a little creative. Today, I am going to show you how I combined Valentine perspectives with Christmas dies and spring pattern papers on a wedding scrapbook layout.

Mixing and matching items on a page can feel a bit daunting at first especially when you are accustomed to using all-inclusive paper collections. I find it best to look at the individual pieces that help to tell the story behind the photo when I am selecting items for my page.

This photo was taken at a wedding, so I chose floral elements to match his boutonniere and her dress. The larger floral pieces were cut from spring pattern paper and the die-cut florals are from a Christmas die set which includes a poinsettia, pine boughs, holly, and all these floral layers.
Even though this was designed as a holiday collection the dies are still great floral pieces that can be used all year long. Having versatile staples like these floral dies is a must in my craft room.

To add to the wedding theme, I layered a valentine perspextive title over a wooden heart cut from a pocket card, added more florals, and some additional phrases. Building titles like this allows you to use those letter stickers, papersnips, and die cuts you have stored away.
When I combine multiple collections on a project, I always try to find a way to pull them together so that it doesn’t look like a mishmash of pieces thrown onto a page. The best way to do this is with repetitive shapes and colors in embellishment clusters.

In all three spaces, I have the same color of florals, a dark black element, a watercolor piece, and some pearls. Some of the florals are a bit different, but the colors and textures are the same giving this page a cohesive feel.
If you would like to see how this page came together and learn a few more ways to combine collections on your page, I have a short process video for you to enjoy.
This wedding layout was created using a mix of Valentine, Christmas, and spring elements and I love how it came together. I especially love the mix of textures created with acrylic perspextives, watercolor flowers, stitching, paste, and lace. The darker background brings out all of those lovely items and makes the photo the focal point of the page.
I hope this project inspired you to use up some of the items you have been collecting. If you have any questions about the project or supplies listed above feel free to leave me a comment.
