Simple Stamping on a Wedding Scrapbook Layout

We are planning our first family wedding, so be prepared for lots of layouts in the new year. Today, I have a vintage-like page recording a memory of the day our daughter found her perfect wedding dress, and I am sharing how I used stamps to create a floral background.

SUPPLIES | Glassboard (Save 20% with Carrie20), Photo Printer, Sewing Machine, Nostalgia Limitless Kit, Simply the Best Stickers, Blue Alpha Stickers, Washi Tape, Blue Pearls, Beautiful Things Stamp, Weathered Wood Ink, Stamping Blocks, Mint Tape, T-Ruler, Die Lifter Tool, Foam Dots, Bearly Art Glue, Tape Runner

This layout was created using components from the Nostalgia Limitless Kit which contains some wonderful paper patterns from 49 & Market, Vicki Boutin, Echo Park, and Fancy Pants Designs.  I chose this kit because of the lovely blue patterns and ephemera that matched the photo.

The ephemera pack only had one floral die cut and I debated creating three-dimensional flowers but felt like this layout called for subtle florals. To make them appear as if they were part of the background, I used stamps with a vintage feel and ink that matched the pattern.

Using ink and stamps that mimic your background paper, is a great way to create a soft stamped image that looks like it’s part of the original paper design.

The background pattern also had splatters and paint swishes, so I imitated those as well. I added ink smudges with a stamp and splatters with a paintbrush.

I brought in elements from both ephemera packs that would work for the page and layered them together. The Nostalgia kit contains an assortment of elements that are great for your pages, but I stuck to the ones that were blue, grey, or black.

I plan on making a second page for this layout with photos of the dress, but I can’t show that until after the wedding, so I picked phrases and die cuts that I could add to later on. Adding phrases to a page also helps to tell the story.

On this page, I was able to use up a few elements from previous kits like the wooden hexagon that I used as a photo hanger and letter stickers in the title.

The kit contained some red puffy letter stickers that were not a match for my page, so I dug out a soft blue set that was an ideal match to the dress in the photo. Below it I added another sticker phrase and some washi tape.

In my video, I explain why I had to use the washi tape on this page and share my selection process when I am putting together a layout.

Today’s project was created using a Nostalgic kit from {Not} Just for Boys Kit club which can be used for many of your memory-keeping projects.  I chose a mix of blue components to record a memory of our daughter and I love how all of these elements came together with the stamped images in the background.
