Scrapbook All that Sparkles

Welcome to Day One of the COAPA Cut Files 20 Days of Christmas hop. This month, COAPA is releasing new files and offering discounts on many of their digital files in the shop. Throughout the month of December, I will be sharing a few simple ways you can use these digital files on your projects.

Today’s theme is “All that Sparkles”, so I have created a fun page that records a memory of the kids walking around the neighborhood looking at Christmas lights. Some of the photos had been uploaded to social media and were not that great of quality, so I decided to shrink them down and use the Festive Filmstrip frame to showcase them.

Photos that are uploaded to social media are compressed and become grainy when you download them.  There are programs that can restore the photos or remove the noise, but I suggest that you keep that original photo stored somewhere else.

I think that is why these little film strips appeal to me.  The smaller photos can still be seen on the layout, but you don’t see the graininess of the photo like you would be able to on a larger photo.

Inside the filmstrip frame, I added a few other elements like pattern paper, die cuts, and some cute little phrases. At the top of the page, I added a little row of houses in the same color as the frame and added a few little twinkle lights. I like how those houses add to the vertical flow of the layout.

At the base of the page, I created a larger title with a little phrase below. This sweet little sentiment fits the page perfectly and brings some of the colors from behind the photo to another area of the page.

Since I like to hide most of my journaling, I try to add phrases to my pages that help tell the story. These phrases are always smaller than my title and are placed in a visual triangle on the page.

In my process video, I show you how I used that Festive Filmstrip cut file and share a few tips for assembling this page.

This page records a memory of the kids walking through the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights and even though some of the photos were not the best quality, I was able to tuck them inside the festive frame to record these memories.

I hope today’s project inspired you to use that festive filmstrip cut file. Don’t forget to stop by the COAPA cut file shop and check out all the great designs that have available.
